In 1881 census Ezra Frederick Hinds appears as a 21yr old living with his family in 75 Albert Rd, Woolwich. How could it be that there is no record of his birth or any mention of him in either the 1861 or 1871 census? Any suggestions? Michaela

1871 Joseph Hinds 46 Sudbury, Norfolk, England Head Woolwich St Mary London Mary Anne Hinds 37 Bethnal Green Wife Woolwich St Mary London Essa(Ezra) F Hinds 11 Notting Hill Son Woolwich St Mary London Catharine Hinds 6 North Woolwich Daughter Woolwich St Mary London (F?)Laurence Hinds 4 North Woolwich Daughter Woolwich St Mary London Emily S Hinds 2 North Woolwich Daughter Woolwich St Mary London Emily Dufard 19 Stratford, Essex, England Woolwich St Mary London He's not on FreeBMD cos they haven't transcribed much of those years yet.

Michaela If you cannot find a person, shown in one census, try looking for another member of the family e.g. father, wife or son, quite often it may be a mistranscription

Can't find his birth on 1837online in either 1859 or the first qtr. of 1860, but have found this marriage on Ancestry:- Name: Hinds, Ezra Frederick Record Type: Marriages Quarter: June Year: 1882 District: Woolwich County: Greater London Kent London Volume: 1d Page: 1492a Kath. x

Thanks everyone for your help!! I'm trying to find his mothers maiden name, Ezras date of birth etc..etc...I seem to have come to a brick wall! Michaela
