Anyone know how to find info on births in MALTA?

I have found that a number of my ancestors were born in Malta. Their father was in the Army, so I guess he must have been stationed there between 1880 and 1883, when three of the children were born. Does anyone know where I would go to get more info? This much was found from the 1891 and 1901 censes under 'place of birth'. Thanks.

My dad was stationed on Malta during the seige, so if you come across any brothers or sisters of mine out there, Tell them I said 'Hi.'

Thanks, Nichola. I've joined up and will start searching. Apologies for taking so long to reply - internet has been down! Thanks again, Ellie

Hiya, I'm in the same situation - you can apply online for Maltese records and they will do a bit of searching for you (they didn't turn up anything for me and they don't tell you how much they will search) see https://secure.gov.mt/certifikati/orderentry/neworder.asp?lng=en Might be worth trying at the Public Records Office at Kew in the Army records - haven't been myself yet, so don't know how much information they will hold. Hope this helps cheers, Angela

Hi, I ordered certs from Malta and they did me proud! http://certifikati.gov.mt/?lng=en It cost about £8.00 for a full extract and international registered post and took about 2 weeks to arrive. I was 2 years out in the birth date but they still managed to find it with the father's and chid's name only. They give loads more info than English ones including the grandfather's names on births and mother's names on marriage certs. The birth was in English and the marriage was in Maltese. They even sent me an e-mail to say that it was coming. Civil registration only started in 1863 in Malta. Good Luck, Pippa

I agree with Nichola i found loads of my relatives born in India on this site 1837online and it also gives you regiments they were in and they are not in order of d/o/b its just a list all mine were on the same page so it saved units, MOE!>
