Has anyone used the company mycensuses(.)com? they are based in Canada and sell UK census CD's. Their prices seem very reasonable and they seem to have been established a number of years. Any feedback regarding quality and delivery times would be appreciated. Derek.

Hi Derek, I have used this site. I got my 1851 census from here and although its not indexed it still does the job. There are some pages that cannot be read but on the whole, for the amount that the discs cost, I think it is well worth the money. Hope this helps Allie

Hi Derek I got my 1851 from there as well, via ebay. It was very reasonably priced compared to other sites and I received it in about 4 days! Not bad considering it came all the way from Canada. Sam

I went to order some of these discs today, but was horrified to find that the credit card details are sent over an unencrypted link which can be viewed by anyone. In these days of data loggers, this is an risk that I would not dream of taking. There is a company on ebay offering what appears to be the same discs I want, so I shall get them from there . linda

Linda I too was a little concerned when I saw the 'Basic' appearance of the data entry screen. However, if you check the URL (https) and the presence of the padlock at the bottom of the screen you can see that you are passing your data via an SSL (Secure Socket Layer) to a secure web server. The authentication certificate can be checked, in this case it is valid and correctly issued. This is the same system as used by most banks and traders on the internet. I was satisfied with the security so I placed my order. I received a prompt personal reply confirming my order, informing me that it is being sent airmail and should be delivered at the end of this week. If you do decide to buy from Ebay, check the Mycensuses homepage again, he names and shames people who are selling pirated disks. Derek.
