If you put Baptist Missionary Society in a Google search you come up with their webpage - you could contact them.

Hi Suzanne, sorry none of those names appear in the book. Its title is 'Martyred Missionaries of the China Inland Mission with a record of the Perils and Sufferings of some who escaped'. It was edited by Marshall Broomhall and published in 1901 by the China Inland Mission and Morgan & Scott of London. My husband inherited it through the family as a great aunt features as a victim. I douby whether it is now available to purchase.

I have a book about martyred missionaries of the China Inland Mission which details all those who died during the Boxer riots in 1900 and also some who survived. The index is exhaustive si I can look up any names and provide details if requested.

Jan - from what I understand the family were devout Baptists, so I would imagine that to be the link I should follow - does this help? I did a google search, and came up approx 13000 possible hits..I did start going through them but nearly fell asleep! Just need some help to narrow things down a bit. Thanks Sarah

Hello Sarah, not sure if this will help, I was brought up in the congregational church and one of our projects was collecting ship halfpennies for the John Williams Missionary Society in the south pacific. Have a quick butchers on Google, good hunting, Derek in France

The religious types...not the position!!! I'm trying to trace a family member who I believe went to New Zealand to become a missionary - not totally sure on details yet, but I think her name was K(athleen?) E Davies and she would have been born sometime between 1910 and 1920 ish. Does anyone know where, or if, I can find information about emigrant missionaries? Thanks sarah
