Did you mean you have the birth cert, but not the 1861 census record? I can send you the census page if you send me your email addy offlist. Mother is Emma on the census. She has three children by 1861. Best Wishes Sarah

I was born in Keynsham and am doing extensive research into the parish and ALL its inhabitants. This has taken me 30 years up to now, and I am still doing it. I have a copy of the Workhouse Records taken from a micro film of them. I have transcribed a fair bit of the records. They include: records showing births and christenings at the workhouse, inmates showing when they 'signed in' who signed them in and who 'signed them out' it also says which parish they originated from. There are other records showing what they called a 'Creed Register' this shows their denomination. If I can be of any help email me on [email protected] I regularly check my emails but don't regularly check this site. Good luck, Norm. Williams

Hi Amanda Thanks for your reply - I'm not sure whether Keynsham would come under Bristol, Bath or Taunton - just wondered if anyone might know. Good luck with your search. Debbie

Hi Deborah, Not much help, but I found 2 children in a workhouse in 1881, the local record office in Hampshire has records of them being there and who paid for them, so try the local FHS. Best wishes Amanda, London

I'm really looking for tips as to where I go from here and am hoping that someone can help me find where records of the Keynsham Union Workhouse may be found. Specifically I'm looking for my husband's gg grandfather Walter West Parslow who was born in the workhouse in November 1860. Father unknown mother possibly Emma Parslow but the first name is quite hard to read. Is it possible to buy 1861 census discs? Which disc would I need? If not which records office do I need - Bath, Taunton? Any help would be appreciated as this is my biggest brick wall. Anyone else found ancestors in the Keynsham Union workhouse? All advice welcome please.
