Whenever they could manage the stairs. I never had a stair-gate. |

my eldest is 6 and she will pop down for stuff on a morning while im awake she knows she isnt allowed down without us being up |

We lived in a bungalow when mine were little - so they just wandered about. The place was fairly childproof - child locks on all cupboard doors etc, so I saw no harm. |

Well, I don't have any of my own. But my brother's two have been coming down on their own since they were 6 and 4. Massive bone of contention in our family, bro + sis in law say it's alright as all they do is put the tv on, and it's so early in the morning that they don't want waking up. Nephew is a strange one. Wakes up about 5.30am (except xmas day when he had to be woke up at 7.30 lol) |

when eldest was little we lived in a flat and she was taught how to work video at an early age and she used to get up go to living room and put on a video and watch it for hours. |
