I live next door to a neighbour who owns two dogs and they do nothing but bark the whole time they're left in the house, they never stop, it's driving me mad. If I attempt to politely speak to her about it (the nice route) I'm bombarded with verbal abuse, reported it to her Landlord - no joy - guaranteed rent here from government so he's not too bothered! so I have been keeping a diary of times and dates and tape recorded the barking, where do I go from here, any advice! Hi Audrey my neighbours have a dog which lives outside and barks non stop. We tried telling them nicely but they didn'y do anything about it. We reported it to the council who sent a dog warden round. She said it wasn't bad enough! She sould try studying or sleeping in our back bedroom. I phoned the RSPCA they said as long as it has water food and shelter there is nothing they can do. Poor dog gets no walks no love and no attention. No wonder it barks, someone will talk to it (they shout shut up Shep) then forget it again. Others round here complain but all to no avail. Good luck with your noisy neighbour. x |

Can you try the CAB? It might be a better beginning than going straight to an expensive solitor. |

I think its the environmental dept of your local council audrey. The first thing they will ask you to do is keep a diary....so you are one step ahead of them there...have a chat with them and see what the next step is x |

you could get the dog a big bone or something to play with and maybe he'll be better ocupied i know it isn't down to you to do but maybe all the dog wants is stimulation |

Hi Carole, thanks for your reply, you know what makes me so cross, the trend now is 'the buy to let' - anybody can do it for sure but do these property owners care who will be living in their house or have any concern for other neighbours - seems absolutely not so long as they get their rent. I have struggled and worked hard over the years to pay for the roof over my head which is/was once a nice quiet neighbourhood and my reward is abuse from the tenant, I'm sure I'm not on my own here on this subject. Hi Sunshine, I know what I'd like to give him! Let's rephrase that - it's not the animal's fault, it's the owner who needs educating, cheers, Audrey x |

Hi Snowie, good idea if they work, before this ******* neighbour of mine aquired these dogs, she had three cats and cats do what cats do ..... use other people's gardens for their latrine habits, so a couple of us neighbours bought a sonic animal repeller to no avail, you could almost see the cats laughing at it. .....Grrrrrrrrr! |

you need to report it to the Enviro Dept as Twinks has said. They are pretty good with this kind of thing. It is not acceptable to have to put up with the constant barking of these dogs. Sad for them cos dogs only batk when they are bored and lonely.... |

Audrey - yes, the log is a good idea, contact your council and they will pass it on to the dog warden. They do check things out - I did a similar thing a number of years ago, phoned the RSPCA first but they said to contact dog warden as they (RSPCA) weren't certain that cruelty was involved. |
