Doctor`s surgeries !!!

I work in one but my own !! Phoned up to ask for nurses appt for coil check --nurse doesn`t do that --well I do !!
Phoned again for a pre- bookable with a lady GP -can`t get one , I gave 3 dates, receptionist suggested I see the nurse , replied she don`t do coil checks , oh neither does Gp, you`ll need to go to Family Planning --at 54 --who`s kidding who??? I know FP is for other things too

Ros, I go to Family Planning here for my smear test as my female doc is useless at getting enough cells. They do so many of them it is easier for them so am happy to go, it makes the young girls do a double take lol
Go for it, you never know who you see there lol!

OMG ......thank goodness you have the same problem as me !!! i thought I was goin mad .......

I cant get mine put in!!!!! coz I have to book an appointment 1 month in advance ,,,but I have the coil coz I dont know when I have my monthlys!!
and as you ladies know it has to be put in on the last day!
So cant book appointment ....So GP said ring and I will do it in my "normal" surgury....good problem solved BUT I rang and she doesnt do that..........................

Ended up in the FP clinic for 18-25 year olds to get it done ...............Dont know if I feel young or old now!

I've actually stayed with my old GP just to get the service of a nurse, even though i'm now living out of the area. He's a one man band, doing things the old fashioned way. Mind you, he's getting on a bit now and so is the nurse, so I guess i'll have to accept that change eventually.

My GP practice and everyone associated with it is fantastic and we now have an on site pharmacy too so we can get out prescriptions straight away!!

Dee, I have it for heavy periods-the Mirena.Yes , it is for family planning too but can be used for problems . Think at 54 Im beyond family planning!!Ros xx

In my experience, the family planning clinic staff are actually better where matters concerning the coil are concerned, certainly with regard to insertion and removal - I presumed that it is something that they are doing on a very regular basis and are therefore more experienced.

Funny, I was just chuntering about our surgery and the practice nurses.
I was supposed to ask my practice nurse at the surgery to change my dressing on Friday but they have 2 off and no appointments so I have had to go to the District nurses - who also have 4 off sick. I'll end up changing it myself!!
They will phone if they have a problem! If they do I will be on my doctors list on Friday and he can change it!
