Going to see to evening meal, back later, he still hasn't solved it although has noticed that the old computer (XP) asks for account name and the new PC (Vista) asks for user name not sure if that is relevant or not.
Strange thing is I had a new pc not many months ago and swapped from XP to vista and had no problem with my e mail account. Also beeb.net.

Bit of a stab in the dark Steve but would it have anything to do with SMTP authentication? (working in the dark a bit here)

It is outlook express

He has set it up exactly as it was on the old machine but it comes up with windows security rejects user name and password.

My OH got a new PC yesterday (HP), his old one is on its last legs although is still going.

He is no dummy on the PC.

On the old one he can still access his e mail account which is beeb.net

On the new one he can't open his e mail account because windows security is blocking it saying log on not valid. he has tried all sorts. Any ideas??
