ITS GOOD TO KNOW

Its just grand to know your own rootes
to learn from where you have come
examine your branches blossoms and shoots
before you go--to your long lasting home

Once down there all knowlege has vanished
theres no hope--love nor hate-- in the grave
for in death all mankind is bannished
there the coward sleeps in peace with the brave

Matters not who you were-nor your story
If in truth or fiction its told
ever humble--or bathed all in glory
was you shy--or timid-- or bold

They are just names --with dates-- on grave stones
where-in lie the same genes as you
christs blood for their sins-freely atones
for their dust what looked much like you

Lovely words Colin......thought provoking.

Some of my ancestors are just names and dates but the ones I know stories about and have photos of feel more close.

Thinking of them helps give me strength
in times of trouble.
