I am fed up to the back teeth with the way GR are treating its members. It's an absolute shambles and this kind of query keeps rising its ugly head frequently. As I have said before in many posts, I led a campaign to get GR to sort this out which basically ended up with me being gagged for fear of having my membership terminated.

I started off paying £7.50 for 12 months and now pay £9.95 for the same period. I have been a member since 2003 when it was called Genes Connected.

If you:

1 Don't tick 'Continuous membership' box when you set up your account you will subsequently be charged £9.95 for six months

2 Change card details your renewal will be for the lower period of six months regardless of whether you had continuous membership ticked or not.

3 If you don't renew within two weeks from the end of your previous membership expiring, you will be charged £9.95 for six months regarless of whether you have continuous membership checked.

All new members will be charged £9.95 for six months and they will never be given the option on renewal for a twelve month membership.

GR feel that this is a fair way to run a business and treat its members. Everybody should contact GR whether faced with renewal or not and get this changed. They will probably reply with their bog standard message, don't leave it there. They need to address this quickly and fairly. There should be a completely transparent pricing structure for ALL members.

I could sit back and not rant about this because I'm at present at least, in the happy position of paying £9.95 for twelve months membership but I can't, it's not fair and it needs addressing.

Would you contact them, anybody that is reading this? If you would or have, please feel free to PM me and let me know!

Dennis if you let your membership lapse the next charge will be £9.95 for 6 MONTHS!

I've been a member since GR started and even suggested to them about starting a contact area for people with same surnames when it was only Friends Reunited but I think £2 price hike is a bit steep for something that is already set up - I'm now withdrawing until there are a few people to contact - no point in wasting money waiting for the odd one or two new leads.

Gr must be the only company that charges different customers different prices for the same product, and their £5 per month renew by mobile phone is absolutely outragious

I think it stinks at the many different rates GR have - it segregates people and causes rows.

Greed is the only word for it.

I think if you have been a member for a while and you don't renew straight away at over £9.00, you get the £7.50 a couple of weeks before your membership runs out. This happened to me for my last two renewals.

Contact them and ask why 6 months now when the last time was 12 months. I don't think it is supposed to change.

By your number, you've been a member for ever. Unless you've had a break in the last 14 months, this is either a error or GR have got greedy

Maggie
How long have you been a member????

If you haven't joined in the last 2 yrs or had a break from with your membership, then email GR and tell them you will be paying only £9-95 for 12 months.

Good Luck

I got an email about 6 weeks before renewal saying it would be £9.95 for a year. Then about 2 weeks ago when I logged on to the site, at the top of my page it said 'renew now for 7.50 GBP'....so I did!

Just had email to say my renewal will be £9.95 for 6 months - is that now the same for everyone? My last renewal was £9.95 for 12 months - seems a bit of a hike to double the price!!!!!
