Hi Jenny, I never miss the boat race and I always support Oxford as thats my mums home county and where most of my dads rellies come from.

You're correct, the race takes off at 5.15.

it used to be early afternoon and everybody watched it. Doesn't seem so popular now though. We had our first colour TV for the boat race in 1973, I remember how excited we were to be seeing it in colour. seems strange now. Wasn't a very big screen though.

I have the boat race on,but not on either side to win,

Just like to watch if either boat goes under the water again.....

I think its late because of the tide times..

Correct, the starting time is dictated by the tide, it's run at slack high water.

I'm supporting Cambridge, but their recent run hasn't been good and I think Oxford are favourites again this year.

But CAMBRIDGE WON.
A very well-fought race, though, Oxford having nothing to be ashamed about!

I think we over here have another type of Boat Race.

Beer On A Table.

Teams of beer drinkers trying to out drink each other, etc , etc.

Yours is with boats, in the water, rowing.!!!!

Here you are, or google Henley On Todd Alice Springs for more.

If it rains and there is water in the river the race is cancelled.
