no it wasnt dizzy, it was an orchard and fields.....there was a manor house, and old dagenham village was very small, the road i live on was asmall dirt road and there was a small police station and a fire station, and the fire station had and still is the only one in the country that can rescue trapped horses, they still train the fire men today..... |

My town has been here since Saxon times, the exact location that our house is built on is the site of the cattle market which existed until relatively recently |

Hi D.D. the village I live in has a web site www.Broadbottom Village.com/ and also has a history project from 1795 on there together with pictures. the cottage we live in dates back to c 1749 if it is of interest to you. I think what you are doing is a v good idea everything everywhere is changing so quickly I feel lost in local towns no familiar landmarks, just tall blocks of yupppy apartments at megga prices. |

Have a look at the Ancestral Villages site. You can add the names of people who lived there and make contact with others - its a great way of keeping the village alive. |
