Please be careful !


I have just exported my tree from GR to Ancestry and a lot of the date are showing incorrectly,some of my ancestors were 133+ years old when they died,it looks like some of the death dates have been overridden with 2008,I don't know if any other info is wrong yet.
they still are reading correctly on my Gr tree ?

Mmmm yes, I did that yesterday... and suddenly found myself married to my sister and we became my fathers parents, lol!! I was still female last time I looked... I tried it a second time, and it was fine then.

I thought it was just me, lol!!

Hi Daff,I've tried 3 times and each time it was incorrect.

Did you use the same gedcom or did you re-do the gedcom?... I am now the proud owner of multiple gr gedcoms, lol!! I also killed my FTM yesterday (or was it the day before??) and wanted to update and merge stuff... ended up in a right pickle, I can tell you!!

Good luck... mine seems to be sorted now, but not at all sure how I did it, lol!!

I re-exported it each time,its a good job i checked it as i was going to try to print it off for my sister.

I don't know what else to suggest then, sorry :¬s When I kill stuff, it is usually accidental... it takes me weeks to sort it all out again, but I am never very sure how I have done it.... I do have a tendency to do an awful lot of re-booting in the hope that it acts like a push start on a car with a flat battery, lol!!

Have you told GR about this?

It could just be a conflice between different versions of Gedcom each site uses. But if GR don't know about it, and ancestry, they won't do anything about it.

Teresa, it didn't even occur to me, lol..... I just thought it was me killing techie-type stuff again!! I didn't even think there might be a conflict with the versions of gedcom!!

I am going to reboot my computer then try again,i have exported my tree many times without any problems so hopefully its just i glitch,if it doesn't work after that i will let GR know.

No,that didn't work.
I have now let GR know.

We have printed dozens of trees for GR subscribers and never had a problem with GR's gedcom.

Ancestry is a different kettle of fish, we have received a number of gedcoms from their site and we have to correct a lot of them.

I have exported my tree again and the problem is still there,so if by any chance you are thinking of exporting and then deleting your tree off GR check the information on it first !!!
