On BBC news this morning, guy breaks INTO prison to supply drugs and mobile phones - he broke in but no one broke out!!!! Amazing. Also said prisoners have access to prostitutes in prison as well and that they are so comfy in prison they don't want to leave. Is this wht we all have been thinking for a long time now? Prison should not be a comfy place you wouldn't wnt to leve, it should a place that ensures you never ever want to go back, or is it just me? I don't think so

Morning Ann,
saw it this morning, with you on this it makes your blood boil when pensioners are struggling to keep warm, working families struggling to stay afloat the list is endless, while the dregs of society are living a life of luxury.

Morning Ann,I too saw this, you couldnt, make it up could you.
Yes we have been saying this for a long time, they certainly wouldnt have wanted to keep in the prisons of old.Too many do-gooders,these days, too many people jailed for small offences, the ones that should be locked up are still walking the streets.I think everything has gone too far to change now.

Human rights laws have a lot to answer for.

Disgusting that they can live a life of luxury when so many are on the breadline.

My OH used to work in a prison and he agrees that they have it too soft in there. Yes they have their liberty taken away from them but the flip side is that they get fed and watered and a roof over the heads gratis. As well as TV's in their rooms if you please - and no TV licence for them to find or rates etc etc.

He also said the standard of food they get is unbelievable.

I think those in prison should be working in the community for their upkeep - lets get them out doing things not festering - helping the aged doing gardens improving roads and pavements washing down graffetti (I am not suggesting murderers to do this cannot have them back out on the streets) but petty criminals yes.

That way there would be more room for the people that should be put away.

Putting old age pensioners away because they cannot afford to pay their council taxes etc is just plain ludicrous - how much more has it cost them to put the pensioner away when you consider the cost of the court hearing and then the stay in prison?

Makes my blood boil.

Just my opinion, but I feel prison is for people who have physically harmed someone, it's not the place for tax evaders, embezzlers and the like - these are technical crimes and should be punished some other way. It's for murderers, paedophiles, people who have committed ABH or GBH, certainly not for shoplifting or vandalism - there are other ways of dealing with this type of crime

Quite right Ann. I also think they do not deserve to be living in quality living conditions either.

basics - no TV or computer games - put them out in chain gangs cleaning up the road sides and the canals, eradicating graffiti - what's the point of prison if they are not made to suffer in some way - I can hear the do-gooders tut tutting in the background, but they've had it their way for far too long and now the tail is wagging the dog, not the other way round

Agree entirely with everything said. We live ina time when criminals are rewarded and the victims just have to suffer. If they try to help themselves, they are just punished for trying to defend themselves. The result being that people live in fear .

With you all on punishment, murders paedophiles
violence, bread and water, thats being kind in my book, the victims family have a life sentence, so should they life not out in 15 yearss or less

One chap interviewed on tv this evening, out of prison now, said it was ok, just an inconvenience being away from his family!!!

Says it all really, an inconvenience! While he is inside, his family are being kept too and yet probably have a lot more in their home than many hardworking people.

Apparently, the drug dealer used to climb a ladder over the fence to get in and sell drugs, but no one ever took advantage of the ladder to escape. Why would they want to with gyms, tvs, computers, personal stereos, table tennis all available for free?

Ironic isn't it, that you can be incarcerated for not paying your TV licence - and get to view one free in prison!!
My daughter & I were thinking about what crime a person could commit that put them away for 3 years so they could take a degree for free!!
Daughter had to work to pay her way through and still ended up owing the bank over £10000!!!

I say hang the murderers and castrate the paedophiles and rapists. Cut the hands of the thieves. Beat the crap out of women and child beaters. You would only have to do a few and there wouldn't be any more crimes.
