As I awoke this morning fair

And struggled to get down the stair

To make my toast and buttered scone

I wondered where my friends had gone.

The PC screen was dim and blank

No one to chat – how my heart sank.

Then I recalled – for goodness sake!

The online version - Take a Break!

The drama queens, the hissy fits

And don’t forget the funny bits!



What have we here – a lively post -

I’ve seen a disembodied ghost!

And now let’s cut right to the chase

A helpful hint – a friendly face J

The cuckoo’s nest seems very warm

As good a place to ride a storm

As any other, some would say

And get you through the livelong day.



Up the hill, a Liverpool meet –

Come on in and take a seat.

Old fashioned chat (opposed to new)

Join us – here’s some fat to chew.

The weathers here – a great surprise!

I hardly can believe my eyes!

In England –the wind dares to blow

But thanks for that – it’s nice to know.



The stern faced judge in his red gown

Glares at us – a scary frown

Miss what’s your name, you naughty thing

Have you been stirring it again?

Slander, libel – these are crimes

But not as bad as dodgy rhymes!

Procrastination – is that not lewd?

No - it means I can’t be chewed.



So all in all another day -

On Wednesday I go away

I’ll shed a tear upon my cheek

And very soon - within a week -

I’ll be trim and toned and tanned

Living in this far off land.

Yet I’ll be sad – make no mistake

Without my daily Take a Break.

Well done Ian don't ever change, enjoy life ,be safe be happy and take care and thank you .:))

thought you'd gone
But here you are
with the same old song

Is that with regret
I see you write?
and missing us too!
Now there's a fright!

Can it be that you're just like us?
wandering lonely, making a fuss
How will you manage without your fix
of GR foibles and weetabix ( well it rhymed didnt it )?

I have a feeling that where 'er you go
You'll cause a fuss, or at least a show
of people wanting to wring your neck
But I'm sure you'll say, Oh what the heck!

As we wave to you goodbye
I see a tear, are you gonna cry?
Praps some (((((((HUGS))))) we should send
or is that tears of laughter my sarcy friend?

Maybe we should put up a thread
saying we're missing you instead
But I expect you'll miss us more
when you have reached that far off shore

Then you'll be back to annoy or entertain
cos you can't keep away
thats been proved by your rhymes
