some of you may remember that at the beginning of april my hubby had a hernia.
He went to see the consultant today and he could have it done next week!!!!! but he's going to be having the op on 30th may.

thanks Kim...i think i'll have trouble keeping him off work.....he's only had 2 days off sick in the 21 yrs i've known him and that was for another op ....he hates to be sat around,

My hubby had a hernia op, they said he would have a small scar, he came home with EIGHTEEN staples, lol.
He was off work for 3 weeks and wasn't allowed to drive for that 3 weeks, they also gave him cough suppressent tablets so he wouldn't put any strain on the wound. xx

thanks everyone.

Dr told him he has to have two weeks off work but thats impossible so Dr said he'll do the op on a fri and hubby can get someone to cover the shop for friday and saturday.....that'll mean he can then have fridat,saturday, sunday and monday and possibly tuesday off. Dr was happy for him to go back to work on wednesday as long as he does no heavy lifting and sits down for some parts of the day.

He WILL have to take it easy for at least a week after the op' and no lifting for a few weeks. I had the op in 2005 and was warned no heavy lifting ever again! GP I saw to have wound checked a week or so after the op' was gob smacked at how bad the bruising was and insisted I have some very strong painkillers. Even tho she has been at the surgery for some years I got the impression it was first post hernia op' she'd seen. I was awake throughout the op' and found it very uncomfortable. Went in to Op Theatre at 930 and was told could go home at 1245 same day. Best of luck to him

Paul will be awake too which concerns me more than the op...he's not good with needles,blood n gore......which is so funny considering he's a butcher...lol.
