This week is about how stress in childhood can affect people, rather relevant in a way to many on here - narcisstic mothers, and other threads.

My cousin's grandson is one of these children, I don't see them as they live miles from here and we are barely in touch. They don't make much effort so I have not bothered so much lately.

I am not watching the programme Liz, but I have had experience of this because we made a mistake with our youngest son.....

We thought that by getting them interested in sports and activities they would not be tempted into getting up to any mischief......... only problem was we overcooked it.......when he was in his teens he was an air cadet, in the swimming club, judo and also doing mocks.......one evening he was due to go somewhere and he just burst into tears, and said he could not do it anymore, it was all too much.....

we were so shocked, we did not realise we had put him under pressure, he felt he wanted to please us and couldn't tell us he did not want to do all these things any more.....bless his heart.......of course he gave up what he wanted to, and we were more careful with him after that.......we did not pressure any of them academically, just to do the best they could.......

....sorry, its a long one again.......

I love this programme as the children in it are the same age as my eldest so it's fascinating to watch the different lives they are all leading having followed them from birth.

I've skyplussed it though as youngest has a cold and cough and keeps calling me up but I will have a watch as soon as poss thanks Liz I would've missed it otherwise xx

I watched the last one Muffy, and the little girl who was one of triplets.....

Were they all Millenium babies, or have I got it wrong.....

I remember the last series they did and how the children turned into adults, and their hopes and dreams as 7 year olds and 14 and 21 and so on......some of it was sad though.....

They are so good to watch though......

Would you believe it, I was trying to multi task and missed the main part of my coz's grandson. Flipping typical lol.
Anyone know if I can watch it online, couldn't find it earlier?

Sally, it is hard to get the right balance. Glad your son told you how he was thinking so he got things sorted. You were only doing your best, as we all do.
So sad that that little girl's Mum died this year.

What a rotten shame, I didn't know that Liz, she lost two of the triplets and one girl, who seems a bit precocious (sp), and her younger sister.......I wonder how it will affect her as she grows, because if it is the same as the last series, they show them again in a few years time.....

I watched the programme tonight Liz, think the children are really bright for their age.
It was sad to hear Eve's mother had died, what a loving little girl she is.
Also loved the twins and how caring they were of each other. I think some adults could learn a lot from the actions of the children.

Remember watching and enjoying the series called "7 up"

Can't believe they are 7 already.
My cousin's granddaughter was on the programme with her Mum and brother, and I just remembered when I went to her Christening, about 12 yrs ago.
Her Mum, as a young woman, had come to my Mum's funeral, 13 years ago next week, and announced to all the family that she was pregnant. She was a single Mum and still in her teens I think, I think her parents were upset. She has major issues over her past which to some extent are not true, my cousin was never the way she has portrayed him and I don't think they are in touch any more, but it was strange to see how much her son looks like my cousin, and she had a couple of facial expressions that immediately reminded me of her dad.

I was looking for something I had recorded for o.h. when he got home from work and somehow had managed to record the programme, only I hadn't intended to, had tried to record something else on a the same time and it didn't work properly when I was trying to set up the dvd recorder, so I didn't bother but somehow it recorded this prog instead.
Spooky, maybe my Mum wanted me to see it lol

Thanks, I forgot to remind people. Have recorded the programme and will watch tomorrow. I found somehow the programme had recorded last time so I didn't miss it after all.
