Why?

Why is it that
when George (the cat) kills a bird (which isn't very often), he insists on 'plucking' it on the stairs - the only carpeted bit of the house?

Don't think it's comfort LWH - the stairs are bit narrow and he tends to be in 'hyper' mode while he's doing it!!

He bought in a mouse yesterday Pink - but I managed to confine him to the downstairs bathroom

Could be that Marion - more grip so he can spit the feathers further!........As for not being daft.....hmm may have to think on that one!!!

We had a present this morning - little tiny mouse. I thought it was alive but stunned but it hasn't moved. They brought one yesterday, too - my parents are away till Sunday so maybe the cats think it's a welcome home present?

But what I don't get is that, half the time, they don't eat the "present" - they just leave it by the step right in front of the back door so we can see it.

That's the reason I won't have a cat...............they are so bloomin' cruel:((

Beautiful and wonderfully loveable, but with a very mean streak!

Can't you tie a bell to it's collar or something to warn the birds a cat is about?

PinkDiana

PinkDiana Report 4 Jun 2008 20:24

Azzie has a bell on her collar too so not sure how she managed to catch one!

Clic's is collar less but then she is 3 legged so never expected her to be fast on her paws!

;O)

Tried a collar - it's no-go. I'd be forever worring about him too. When his jaw was broken (by some 'human' on a moped) he had one of those lampshades on, and managed to get his paw caught in that!! Goodness knows what damage he would do to himself with a collar. I have put collars on previous cats, but the reaction from these ones to collars is quite severe - they get so upset - salivating etc that it's verging on cruelty.
The cats usually catch mice, and the occasional rat and so far, have brought them in dead. They go for the neck. George doesn't eat his mice, but Mr Miu does - usually just leaves the liver, but on Tuesday there was a pile of guts in the kitchen!
Betty just 'kills' hair ties, but enjoys chasing crane flies when they're around LOL
Have to admit my cats go in my garden. I have a huge barked over patch as nothing grows there, it's under trees and is mainly solid chalk. This is like a giant litter tray to them, first thing after breakfast you can see all 3 of them using it!! Every so often I don rubber gloves & wellies and clear it out!!
