Running Bear Report 11 Jul 2008 15:14

Last night I had the strangest dream
I ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war
I dreamed I saw a mighty room
The room was filled with men
And the paper they were signing said
They'd never fight again

And when the papers all were signed
And a million copies made
They all joined hands end bowed their heeds
And grateful prayers were prayed
And the people in the streets below
Were dancing round and round
And guns and swords and uniforms
Were scattered on the ground

Last night I had the strangest dream
I ever dreamed before
I dreamed the world had all agreed
To put an end to war

Last night I joined you in your dream
It was so good it was so real
I saw them sign their signatures
To say they'd stop the wars

I danced around in the street
All around were singing sweet
The wars are over
They all did shout
As we danced and jumped about

The solders wept and laughed aloud
Home to their loved ones they abound
We have killed our last enemy
They all did shout
But
We are soldiers what will we do
We have no jobs now no homes too
The war is over, but so are we
Please tell us what will become of us
Noew we no longer can use our guns

The war is over
The world is free
But as my dream it will soon end
Our country we must defend
The war is over, we all agree
But I'm a soldier
What will become of me

The soldier stood against the wall
His rifle by his side
On his face he had a smile
As he thought of his lovely bride

The smile lay on his lips
His memory of their last kiss
Her lovely face was there to see
Her smell, her hair, her memory

A sudden shout, a sudden noise
A stirring amongst the boys
But don't worry, it's okay
It's only children out to play,

Their little faces full of fun
He shifted slightly, hid his gun
The children crowded all around
When suddenly there was a sound

The thud of a landing grenade
Fell to the ground where it laid
The air stood still, not a sound
As the children stared at the ground

The soldier sighed, he had to move
There was nothing he could do
He looked around and thought of his wife
Lay on the grenade, gave up his life

On foreign soil, he is gone
And all the children sing a song
A lament to the soilder who gave
His life for them, their lives he saved.

Across the sea, lived his wife
Her newborn by her side
She doesn't know what's happened yet
She doesn't know he's died

A smile upon her face she had
As she whispered an aside
Wait till your daddy's come home
And she looked down at their child
