Oh bought lemon sole from Waitrose today for dinner.I cut the plastic cover and was nearly knocked out by the stink.Have put it in the outside bin.Had to use air freshener it was so bad.
How do I complain about that as there is no way I could drive with that in the car to take it back to the store?

We bought a bacon joint from Sainsburys once. It smelt worse & worse as it was roasting.

We rang Sainsburys & they sent someone to collect it!

Mind you, we never got any more feedback, so didn't know what the problem was. (Although we were refunded). I wish that we had contacted the Public Health Dept.

Hi Helen, can't you seal it in a couple of bags and open it with a flourish at the supermarket?. I really think they should have a bit of their own medicine!!!

Fish should never smell.

I had this happen once with Sainsbury's fish. I sealed the fish in 2 plastic bags & froze it before ordering a takeaway.

Next day I went back to Sainsbury's who refunded me the money for the takeaway & the fish

Merlin it is in the black bin ,for collection tomorrow. If I took it out I couldn't have it in the house, and if I wrapped it up and left it outside a fox or something would have it.It STINKS.The wild life for miles around would sniff it out !!!!!

We did have atakeaway and have to say it smelled a lot better than the fish.
I don't think I can bring myself to get it out of the bin.We have the receipt and hopefully they will believe me.

years ago when Carrefour was a supermarket over here I bought a leg of lamb - it reeked when I opened it up so I took it back and was informed it should have been taken off sale for burgers!!!!

I once bought some stewing steak during a time when we were feeling quite poor and it was a bit of a treat to have meat.

I turned it into a goulash and it was cooked for a long time in a slow cooker but was still tough and totally inedible when we tried.

It wasn't off but extremely disappointing. I took the cooked meat back the next day.

The woman at the Customer Service desk looked at it and said "It looks all right to me" to which I replied that if it had been all right we would have eaten it.

I got my money back.
