Linda,

I know exactly how you feel and even if it makes you sad it is also a very happy feeling....Two years ago I tracked down one of my Dad's younger brothers who still lives in South Africa.

I have very vague memories of him as I was very little the last time that we met.

When I heard Uncle Barney's voice I started to cry as it was the exact same voice down to the last accent and he even adressed me as " my girl" as my late Dad used to..

It is particularly special as I never knew my grandparents either they had all died years before I was born.

I do have two photos of them that mum's sister sent to me from New Zealand.

Not surprised you were moved to tears Linda it's a marvellous feeling to see photographs of 'lost family'.

I was recently sent one of my ggrandmother who I'd never seen before and like yourself was thrilled!

Hope you continue to keep in touch with your new contacts

How lovely for you Linda, am so pleased you found this person again.
I located a cousin of my Dad's - no, his daughter, the cousin has died - and she told me a few bits and sent a pic of her father and my great aunt but doesn't seem to want to take things further which is a shame as she lives not far from my son's relatives in Essex. My elderly relative in Banbury has a host of anecdotes about the family including this great aunt who was her Mum's sister and who she knew as a child, and would love to talk with them, but they don't seem interested. Joyce is 88 and you would think they would be interested enough to ask for her number, which I have offered, but nothing!
One of my cousins has a scrapbook of photos of my greatgrandparents who I never knew, but because they are pasted in she can't scan them, I keep emailing her asking her to photograph them for me as that can be done, I have done it often, and she doesn't do it. Wish my Gran had left the book to me instead of her daughter taking it home for her daughter to find when clearing their house.
Hope you stay on your cloud all day,
love
Lizxx

....do you remember me asking for help to find someone who was not in my contacts?..... well we did contact each other a few days ago we share the same great grandparents and this morning she e mailed me a picture of them I was so thrilled it moved me to tears. She is in Canada and any photos etc here were lost when our home was bombed during the war (before my time I might add!)

The likeness to my own mother and eldest sister is startling. I am so pleased quite made my day!
