I went to DRs on Friday with a thing on my face (I will call it a thing) been there for ages but lately its keeps crusting up and bleeding, the Dr I saw said it could be a skin cancer but not to worry it probably was the non dangerous sort, I was blown away I have to see the Dr on Thursday who deals with skin I really am so confused by all of this as I thought cancer with dangerous never mind what sort.

Lynne, I'm not a medical person but there are a number of skin cancers and some of them are not dangerous. You are frightened by the word "cancer" but remember it's just a word. Take care.

Differing degrees of skin cancer

Basal cell carcinoma- skin lesions on surface only, they can be removed regularly (you can have them numerous times) and are not invasive ie. they do not penetrate the lower layers and therefore less likely to travel around the body.

Malignant melanomas are more serious and should be dealt with immediately.

Sounds like your Dr is talking abot a Basal Cell but the dermatologist will let you know more- Dont worry.

Try not to worry. I know it's not easy, I've been there.

Good luck for Thursday, and remember it may not be cancer, and sending you positive thoughts

Remember Lynne, your Doc is erring on the side of caution- it coud be something and nothing. The sooner it is dealt with the better.

I dont wish to frighten you, but if you want to read more, try this website. It is excellent.
http://www.cancerbackup.org.uk.
Click on cancer type tab and then skin. It will give you all the information you need.

I'll second that one Lynne.

If a mole changes shape, itches, bleeds or changes colour it should always be checked by an expert.

Please make your appointment first thing Monday. I am sure your OH would agree. The sooner these things are looked into the better.

I hope he gets the all clear- you too Lynne!

Its not a mole its a pearly white thing with a hole in the middle thats what scabs over and bleeds.

If I was a man I could have a moustace to hide it (could always try to grow one lol)

Sorry I have to make light of it.
