Havent told many people I was going today but had a gastroscopy this morning.

They were brilliant with me and understood why I needed sedation and even went through everything that would happen before they gave me the sedation like the mouth guard and the sponge up nose just in case I couldnt cope.

Cant remember much about it so sedation obviously worked and went in at 10am and home by 11.45am.

Nothing wrong with my osesphagus (spel) so has to be another reason for the not being able to swallow.
They did find some polyps in my stomach so have sent a biopsy off and my stomach is also very swollen and sore so sent bits off to see exactly what it is.

Got to go to Drs in 10 - 14 days for results.

Am at consultant next week so hopefully he will be able to say why I cant swallow is loking more like the FM or if the other biopsy shows sjogrens could be that.

McAnne can definitely say this has been the worse year ever for me and my close family not long til the end of it hopefully 2009 will be better.

At least its shown the swalowing is nothing serious just one of my conditions and is only 2 weeks to get results of other tests so should know nothing bad before christmas.

Glad your oesophagus is clear and hope the biopsy explains more to the doctors but is nothing too difficult to sort out. As I think I mentioned before, my brother had difficulty swallowing and eating for a long while and nothing untoward was found. I will have to ask him what it was, we don't see each other much or speak often so not sure if he is ok now. I think he might be but unsure of what happened, whether any treatment.
Good luck, and hope you get sorted out soon, glad the procedure wasn't too stressful, bet you are glad it is over now.

Hope all is well for you Dawnie,

I had this done 12 years ago, as I was bleeding internally, and they did not know where from. I had to have a blood transfusion.

Was a hiatus hernia, and I now feel better than I ever did, after being told what foods to eat. No more acid reflux, which was frightening, as I sometimes woke up in night choking.
