Anyone interested in running the UK during the summer while the Government & opposition are on holiday?

Very few employers would allow all employees to be away at the same time.

Also, there are a few top-rank police vacancies to be filled.

Greetings one and all,
still raining here :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P
The little man loved his first day at playgroup :-D No tears or tantrums, amazing. I have to say it was a bit too quiet round here.
OH did Fajitas tonight, lovely. Now I need a large coffee to go up the tree with me, lol. Might be up there a while ;-) ;-)
Hope everyone is well and warm and Marilyn hope the wedding was great despite the weather.

I'll have a go at running the UK Dermot, I have a few ideas to make the country a happier place.

I've just read this book called the palace of strange girls and its set in Blackpool and I think all the mill workers from the same mill are there, so I think years ago employers must have given everyone the same holiday.

Yvonne when I went to Brittiany with my daughter we went on the Sheering coaches. well it was Wallace Arnold then. they collected us in a small coach and we drove to south Mims where we boarded out Coach for Brittiany but it took along time getting there as we went to Normandy first and stayed over night at a Hotel. "Novell" the next morning we drove around the countryside then went onto to St Marlo

we had a nice holiday good weather, the people who went this week are not so lucky. such a shame as you really need good weather to go there.
My next holiday(/wedding )will be in September when I am going to Christchurch in Dorset to my Granddaughters wedding. it is a big affair so I will have to buy some new clothes.
My sister booked the Hotel in January . but we are going on the Thursday before the wedding and coming back on the Tuesday. my daughter and her husband are going so we are driving down with them. but coming back by train .
I hope the weather will be good for that.

Rita I used to go on Wallace Arnold hoilidays as well!
The good thing about coach holidays is that eveything is included but it does involve a lot of travelling.

Rita Report 18 Jul 2011 21:14

we went by coach Pat as we are getting old and didnt want the trouble of pulling our cases along and lifting them on and off trains and buses. everything is planned you get coach trips out to visit places you would have trouble getting to see if you didnt have a car. It is just they are not oorganized for picking people up and dropping them off near their homes, they have to do a marthon ride and you go around in circles. I* think it has put alot of people off who went with us to IOW.

Good morning friendlies, hope you had a peaceful and restful night.
Just coming light here but doesn't look like we will have any sun, oh well, we will all have webbed feet if we have much more rain.

Breakfast.
Cereal, porridge or juice.
Bacon, eggs, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns.
Hot rolls, toast or waffles.
Marmalade or honey.
Tea or coffee.

I hope the weather is better for when the children finish school for the summer holidays, I always feel so sorry for them if they are kept indoors, I remember the lovely summers we had, I used to spend all the long holiday with my Grandparents and Great grandparents travelling the country side in their vardos.
Sorry, rambling on a bit there.
Hope the day goes well for you all.
Take care and stay safe.
Jean xx

I had my breakfast before I logged on Jean how silly is that ? I could have had you cook mine for me. still only had toast. I am not really inot Breakfast.
When will this weather change. just as people are going on Holiday with their children we get this type of weather . not really fair is it ?

*I dread going shopping when the children break from school. as the mothers around here stand talking and the children run riot around the counters. the times I had been pushed aside by some of them.
outside our Waitrose they have a small playground for the children it is l one slide but had other things on it as well like climbing frame.etc.

I want to watch Heir Hunters now all repeats but you always learn somethihng from that programe. on BBC1.

see you later
Rita.

The out-come of the little green cabbage like plant that was growing in the little front garden I have , It started with the birds dropping a seed.? and I found a small cabbage growing as it grew bigger I was going to pull it up.
but was asked by some people around here not too . they all wanted to see what it would turn out like.? one said it was a cabbage another broccli another thought it was a cauliflour and so it went on what it might be.
when I left for my holiday it looked quiet big infact it was overtaking my Fushia and Flock plants. I came back to a tall thick plant with a yellow flower on the top.,I thought it was Rape and it was, how come this plant still flowered when the ones in Norfolk would have been picked and the rest would have been brown by now. I didnt see any Rape plants on the Isle of wight. when the gardeners came to mow the lawns this morning I asked one of them if he would pull it up for me. I said it is rape and must have a big root on and as I had hurt my foot and back could not pull it up..
He did. I had to laugh when he asked me which one it was ? I said the big yellow top one with cabbage leaves. he pulled and when I saw the root I nearly had a fit. it was massive.
and has left a big space in the garden

The six wonders of The Isle of Wight

Cowes you cannot Milk.

Freshwater you cannot drink.

Lake you can walk through and not get wet,

Needles you cannot thread.

Newport you cannot bottle.

Ryde where you can walk.

and out of interest The Wight in the Isle is spelt that way instead of White as it is a Roman spelling of White..
