Mo in Kent Report 17 Apr 2010 15:51

Afternoon everyone.
What a beautiful day. When we went out to the car this morning, there was a fine layer of brown dust all over it.
When we got to the car park,we noticed that all the vehicles parked there, had got the same dust on them.
We are wondering if it is dust from the eruption in Iceland. You never know do you.
Shelly, young Olly has got definate chances in photographic modelling.
I don't know if you have got any agencies in your area, that do child model
photograpy, but if there is,you could put his name down with them. He has got the perfect look to him,and those eyes, they are like pools of liquid gold.
It's nice to hear you had such a lovely birthday Linda. Enjoy yourself at the garden center.
Rita,I used to love my line dancing. Did you ever enter any competitions.
I did,the first one was at Prestatyn in Wales, and the second was in Stoke on Trent. I have also danced at Blackpool Tower ballroom. The closest I came to winning was third. Always a runner up,never good enough to win though.
I had to give it all up,when Roly had his brain bleed,as I was needed at home. And I am not sure wether my memory could remember all the steps we had to learn back then.
Hi Pauline,Marilyn,Yvonne,Lady,Liz and of course our Sue should she look in.

Hi Marilyn
Isnt it great when you teach your grandchildren to knit their little face screw up and their fingers seem to wander I taught some of mine . they mostly wanted to sew.and do cross stich.

Must get to bed, just used my slow cooker for the first time, so dinner for this evening is bubbling away nicely.

Morning everyone.

well all who are up now I will say to the others LAZY BONES get up.and enjoy the day.
Shelley you could be right about the non flying of aircraft I have been waiting for these people that keep on about climate change blaming it all on us folk. just goes to show you no matter how hard you try to keep the climate green it is not always possible these acts of god add there own climate change.what with Volcano's amd earthquakes.
My nephew was due to fly from America to Cyprus yesterday he has a long journey and was in a stop over but it has all been cancelled till Monday now.
My son came back from his fishing holiday in France and said it was very cold in the evenings he was dead tired as well as he said for some reason the roads were pretty busy. so I take it some people managed to get across the sea to France by ferry and were travelling over land to there destinations.those poor little school children were held up at some airport waiting to fly home and were stranded because of it. I bet the cost of a ticket to fly will go up after this they have to get their moeny back somehow.

Liz it was brilliant though wasnt it we asked for cash not ash.

Morning all, it's a bit dull here and a bit nippy but hopefully it'll get better as the day goes on.

Rita and Mo, it made me smile thinking if you 2 doing your line-dancing in cowboy hats and boots. I would love to see you doing it. I went to a line-dancing class a couple of times and thought it was good but my friend couldn't pick it up (she couldn't remember the steps) so we never went back. We just go shopping now instead.

Maybe you could send us some photos of your dancing days.

Glad you had a lovely birthday Linda, did you put some of that cake in the cyber hatch for us?

Marilyn if you'd been a little bit earlier you'd have caught Liz before she went to bed.

LOL Shelly, only you could come up with that bit about the planes.

Rita

Rita Report 18 Apr 2010 10:45

HI Pauline

I have no photo of my dancing days I do have a couple of medals somewhere about. I was a fanatic at dancing I use to go nearly every night. Ballroom rock and roll you name it I did even old time dancing. once or twice but I perfered Ballroom.
The country and western I only did when I went to Norfolk for some reason it was like a cowboy country whether it was because there were so many American camps about and plenty of G l even in 1982 there seem to be plenty of places you could go to to learn and dance.
when I was younger and started dancing at the palas in Cricklewood I went roller skaing in the afternoon which was on the ground floor I did this saturdays and sundays most weekends went home had dinner dressed and came back at 7.30 to the next floor up where we danced I learned to dance on skates the roller skates instructer became my brother in Law later so how about that then ? Fate.

I notice now how quiet it is in Surrey no aircraft flying over head.I can hear the birds all day instead of first thing in the morning. talking to my daughter a few minutes ago she said her friend said( they were ilving in take off path and since the ban on flying they can walk a round their garden and speak without shouting and the tiles on the roof didnt rattle either)
Now i know what it must have been like when my ancestors lived it must have been so quiet with just the breeze and the sound of cattle just think of the peace of that. when you hear the hustle and bustle of life as it is today.

Maiyln I have another favour to ask you please next time you go to the devon records office it might be there I found a Walter Lee born 1873 in Devon and he died in 1933 in Portsmouth Hampshire it is quiet likely this is my great uncle I cannot find it on ancestry there is one but that one is too old for Great Uncle Walter. when he came out of the Navy in 1911 he was in the area s of Plymouth and Portsmouth.
I dont know what ese I can do to look where to see if it is him ? unless I send for a certificate of death.

Pauline, like Rita,I have no photo's off my line dancing days. But I do have a DVD,as Roly recorded me dancing my socks off. lol
It has only been about a month Rita, since I gave all my line dancing costumes to the charity shop. I still have my boots and hat though. And I also saved one costume,as it cost me an arm and a leg to buy. It's a dark mustard colour, and has black fringing on it. I never took to the shorter style skirts,so this outfit has a skirt that comes down to my boots. Not very practical for showing off the dance steps in competition work though.
I wonder what new plants Linda has bought from the garden center.
Hi Liz,Marilyn,Shelly,Yvonne,Lady.

Mo
My skirt was long too and my tops had fringes around as well I must have thought I was the cats whiskers
My daughter went to the garden centre this morning to the one not far from heathrow and she said they were all happy in there as they could hear themselves speaking and it was so nice and quiet and they seem to have a lot of people buying.
I wonder what plants Linda has brought with her birthday money . I am just going to have a glass of milk now I have a bit of heart burn so I thought tea is out milk instead.
see you later

Hubby & I fell out today ...!

We had a BIG ROW in the garden centre ...all because I wanted a small framed do it yourself green house (NO Glass)..you put it together its made of plastic and a cover in plastic with zips up the side ..
They had none left in a box so I asked an assistant can I have the one on display ? Hubby got annoyed and thought I should not ask for it as the assistant said you cant have a display one . Sooooooooooo...... I asked to see the manager and sent hubby back to the car, to leave me sort it out ..LOL
the manager came and said of course you can have the display one ,I'll collapse it for you .
So it was bought... took it to the car steething with anger as hubby made me wheel it all on my own because I sent him to the CAR ...THEN I had to get
the plants & flowers to put in it ! So I arranged for hubby to meet me to help with sacks of peat 2 bigs ones ,BUT.... he was no where to be seen. He was hiding from me ..LOL

Now we did not talk all the way home as I said this is all to do with you not
not wanting me to buy the Display one....how ridiculous !!!!
Well I ventured to assemble it myself, and he wanted to help ME !!! how dare HE !!! after what happened ..

Soooooooo....I am very pleased with my purchase and have loads of plants.

Now did you All enjoy that Saga.?

He's trying his best to be my friend & lover ..LOL it might work !!

Tired now..gosh it wears you out don't it ?

Oh Marilyn, you have made my day. There was me thinking it was only me that had an OH like that.
You enjoy your little greenhouse. It was all made by you,so keep it for yourself, even if im indoors wants to grow something. LOL
One day this week I will have to get my plants. I promised myself I would get them last week, but didn't feel up to potting them up.
My perrenials are doing brilliantly though. I do a lot off cat chasing,as my
flipping cat still likes to poo in the pots.

Hi Mo,

Its lovely my little greenhouse, I bought some begonias and geraniums and little trailing flowers .
So I should have a good display this summer.

I'll put hubby in there if he misbehaves again ..LOL

Best to go shopping without them Mo don't you think ?

Are you feeling any better ?
I have this phlegm on my chest and on my 2nd bottle of cough medicine .
Dying at night......coughing !

Mo in Kent Report 18 Apr 2010 21:02

Feeling a lot better thanks Marilyn.
And yes I agree, shopping without men around is much more fun. Roly hates going, but thinks he's being left out if I want to go alone.
You can look around so much better without them getting impatient, and wanting to get out off the shop.
I want to get some Pansies, Begonias,Pinksand Busy Lizzies.
I think B+Q have got an offer on at the moment. If not I will go to our local garden center on wednesday as it 10% off day then.

LindainBerkshire1736004 Report 18 Apr 2010 21:31

Hi Ladies
Well I did enjoy the garden centre, but not the crowds. It is a very big one anyone local knows it called Longacres. One off not a chain, reasonably priced plants, but it still all adds up. But my purse stayed in my handbag today. And we had lunch out too. Hubby had to go to work, but is home early and has booked leave for tomorrow as the airport is quiet and not busy.

I got 2 lovely biggish pots in terracotta embossed with sunflowers. A dicentra(bleeding heart, dutch boys trousers, love lies bleeding) for one. Sambuca for the other, very dark segmented leaves(shrub come tree?). A lovely oxalis in pale pink, petunias and tomato plants. Also some seeds for grasses and convolvulus to be planted tomorrow.

I need to go back for geraniums, fushias, hanging baskets. Think we were too early as they aren't hardy.

Oh well I loved it.

Entertaining again tomorrow, hubby arranged it while I was out.
