Rita Report 26 Oct 2010 12:28

I am back from my hospital visit. I had a field test done as well today. and my eye pressure is fine so I stay on my medication two lots of eye drops twice a day. I go back in May next year.( good job I brought a desk diary and Handbag one for next year so I can write these dates down.)

In June I brough a pair of glasses from Spec-Save they cost me £166.20 would have been more but it was at the time you got so much off them. .I have tried to persivere with them and got head aches so I took them today with me and my old glasses. guess what ? my old glasses I could read
below the bold line on the eye chart two lines below that.
The New ones I could read the first three lines. all the rest turned into three d.. they could not believe it ? .and I have been told to take them backt not to use them .the perscription is all wrong. so I phoned them when i got home and was told to take them back anytime I did not need an appointment. when I looked on the receipt they had charged me for the eye test as well. I thought I got that free as I have glocoma but it appears I dont according to them.
Another thing I was given a new eye Doctor at the hospital appointment he said they should have give you one to MR Condon (he is the main one) so I see my old consultant next time
So you see the thing is did I have a good day or Bad. I am unsure now.

Oh my goodness thats awful Rita.......I would certainly march back to SpeKs ..

The eye test should be free over 60 but if you have had had one within the two years of your last one , they do charge you , so making it free every 2 years.
I'm not sure about if you have Glaucoma I'm not so sure about that one, anyway the Eye Hospital should have given you a free test & prescription if you have Glaucoma surely .??????

It will be interesting what Speky's say ....keep us informed Rita.

Its still raining, but have to go out at sometime, I'm just sat here waiting for the rain to STOP !!!!!!!!

Oh trust me, I missed Jeans brilliant news yesterday. I am soooo pleased for you Jean, this was such good news to log onto.

Rita, what the heck were spec - savers playing at, giving you the wrong lenses like that. It could have done such damage to your eyes, shame on them.
But the other news was good to hear.

Maddie, I hate going shopping when the kids are on holiday. I mean I generally love kids, but I could not eat whole one.
Parents these days, seem to take no notice of their children when out shopping. They have just one thing on their minds, and that is to spend money. Be it on a credit card, or cash. The youngsters, are not even put on reins anymore, as mine used to be whilst I did my shopping.
I liked to know that my children were safe, and were not going to wander of
somewhere,and get lost.
There are to many weirdo's about these days, to feel safe when out with children in tow.
My other pet hate, is youngsters who ride through our local shopping precinct, on skate boards, or bikes. There are signs up, prohibiting the use of both. But they are ignored, not only by children, but also adults on push bikes.
I am always afraid for the elderly, who could be knocked for six by either of them.
Enough of my moans.

Linda I hope you get on alright at the doctors. If you have put on a few pounds, so what, you will soon lose them again, with all the running around that you do.

Rita Report 26 Oct 2010 16:18

Marilyn
I got onto the internet to NHS and they give a list of people entittled to free eye tests, among them are children aged 19 in full time education (how can you class a person of 19 a child.? I had to smile. ) also if your over 60. and if you are diagnosed with Diabetes. or Glauxoma. also if your over 40 and any close memeber of your family has Glaucoma..also (get this
) If your a prisoner or leave a prison )t here is a long list of NHS Support you get free eye tests.
while I was there this morning a man c ame in hand-cuff to a Police officer he had another Police Officer with him, them all marched into the room it was so funny to see.
Last time I had my scan the same thing happened this time it was a black lady on crutches she had three police officer with her.I thought if they are with her incase she runs off she will have difficulty doing that.

It was two and half years ago when I had my eye test before this last one.

Mo when the children are on holiday here .I try and stay away from the shops . I love children but some of the mothers let their child run riot .I am surprised at how many Indian ladies do that. they push past you and the children get things out of the freezers and off the selves and then drop them anywhere if their mother tells them to put it back.
I have seen frozen food on a shelf with other goods.

A nice quiet day.............NOT

Up the loft.......repair to the ballcock on the header tank. The overflow was pouring out goodstyle. Simple.....no.
What a hastle getting things apart. It's fixed now.

Then notices a wee puddle emerging from below the dishwasher. Simple repair.....not.
Eventually got the machine out and decided it was beyond economical repair. Phoned my Insurers. Lengthy discussion.....YIPPEE they will pay for a new one. Have only had one other claim in the last 30 years or so apart from the cars.

Mrs Stephen is near back to normal. Thank goodness. I can tell when she is 100%. The nagging level reaches 6.5
on the Richter scale. LOL

It's been pouring down all day. Hope it clears soon.

See ya later.

I bet you will be glad to be back at work Stephen. But just imagine the panic, Mrs Stephen would have been in, had you not been there.
We have just renewed our insurance our insurance on the dishwasher, and washing machine, it's cheaper than having to buy from new.

Shelly I can remember you giving your daughter cooking lessons before, it looks like you will have to start them again. Just remember to get her to buy her own saucepans, and if she ruins them it's not so bad as ruining yours. LOL
You may have to put up with burnt offerings, for a few weeks though. But just imagine the weight you would lose. Oooh perhaps I should move in with you, I could do with losing a few stones myself.

Hi all.

Jean, FANTASTIC news, I'm so pleased for you. What happens now, do you have to continue with your medication until Christmas? I missed the celebrations last night so I'll have my wine tonight..........rosé please.

Been horrible weather here all day, dark, wet and windy.

Had more hassle this morning with son's wheelchair but eventually got the repair firm to pick it up and take it away. They brought it back while I was out so they took it away again and left a card with a phone number on. Rang the number and the receptionist said they didn't have it. She told me she'd checked and double checked our name and address..........so I must have made some mistake, it must be with some other firm.

I stayed calm (although slightly sarcastic) and told her the van that picked it up earlier had their name on it. And the card that was pushed in my letterbox had their name and number on it. So she checked again, and funnily enough she found it!!

Mo, I remember those cooking lessons that Shelly gave her daughter as well, it would be easier if Shelly just gave her daughter a few menus for take-away places.

Well Pauline, I didn't know you stood in for Miss Marple when she was on holiday.
Well done on keeping your cool, and proving that you were right, and the receptionist wrong.
Brent can't be without his wheelchair. Has it arrived back yet,ot have you got to wait till tommorrow for them to re-deliver it.

Stephen did your wife have 4 miscarriages or did you lose them after they were born? Whichever way it was........it's very sad, must have been hard to bear. My parents lost 3 young children, 2 were older than me and one younger.

Hello everyone, plenty of wine left from last night so please help yourselves. Thank you for all your support and kind thoughts, you really kept me going when I was having bad times. The week before Christmas I have my scan on my breasts, so hoping for more good news, but maybe I'm being greedy.
If any of you had walked into my house tonight about 5.30 you would have thought I was mad, I was crying like a baby, was watching the Alan Titchmarsh show, he had the soldiers on who made the record for the troops, tonight they were singing their new song, think it was called I'm Sorry, it was the last letter written home by one of the soldiers killed, a lovely song but so sad.
Take care everyone.
