Stephen,
I read a lot! I've just started The Associte by John Grisham.
My sister lives in Portsmouth. I'm gong there for Christmas.
Surprised to hear that Oxford Street wasn't too busy. Well done!
I'll have to catch Strictly just to see Anne Widdie. I used to like her in The Fit Club.

Rita we always stop off at Portsmouth when we go to the Isle of Wight. We like to wander the harbour, see Victory.

I went with my daughter a couple of years ago. We went to the Spinnaker Building, and the outlet centre. I spent money - she didnt.

We saw all the sand sculptures at St Ives. Wonderful. Mermaids, fish, tigers, cartoon characters. Tate Museum down there was good too.
Hated the smell of cornish pasties though, too much hot fat, ugh.

Mommy Christmas, why not just wear your Santa outfit. That would flummocks them.

We are having a works party tonight. All the youngsters are going. I decided against it. It is the same every year.

People getting drunk and being sick.
People doing unmentionable things in the toilets.
People having a fight.
People crying on the stairs cos their amour has gone off with someone else.

Dear oh dear. I am too old for all of that. lol

Thanks for the email Marilyn. Very pretty, was singing along to it.

Badly.

edit. Hello Pat. Nice to hear from you. I was at my best today.
spending money. lol

Maddie is the spinnaker Building in the Mall block ? I have not noticed that? the big Mall they built that when they pulled down all the little Sailors homes.they had stood there from the 1700 they were two up and two down I think. Lanport tI think t was then.
the train I get comes from Waterloo to Portsmouth and on a Monday it is full up during the summer Londoners going there to do their shopping
The little fish and where the Victory is. it shows you how good the fish is as the Dockes workers and sailors go there and buy their fish and chips

I remember now where the other Ice Sculpters are it is in Chamonix called " Mer de Glacier " I use to go on holiday there as well. my sister and myself and two friends who were French teachers..you went down in a cable car to see those. they were done out of the melted ice that came down from the mountains the artist come there every year and chip out shapes and fiqures out of the ice. it took us about 20 minutes to get down to see them.that place is always packed out with younh skiers
well I am off to bed now.

We will be having our Christmas Dinner next week. The dinner is very good, but the Cook is such a miserable mare. I think she pours her own blood into the cooking, she hates having to dole it out onto the plates.

I love it. It is the only Christmas dinner, that I dont have to cook myself.

Good night to all you sleepy time gals.
Sweet dreams.

Marilyn, eat slowly, you will get indigestion. lol

MotownGal Report 4 Dec 2010 22:18

Rita the Spinnaker is where the Outlet shops are. If you look up it looks like a yatch in full sail. There is a viewing platform where you can see all over the harbour, and probably over to the Isle of Wight on a clear day. there is a glass floor too, like the Blackpool Tower. Cross it at your peril. lol

Osborne House in the summer, lovely. From the verandah at the back you can see Portsmouth on a very clear summer afternoon.

(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?

Tea or Coffee.

Sunday Breakfast.

Porridge or Cereals, Fresh Grapefruit, Fresh Fruit Juices.
Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Hash Browns, Mushrooms, Black Pudding, Etc.

All on the Hot Plate. Help yourself.

Linda I was cooking it when you appeared.

Still below freezing here -5C. No fresh snow, thank goodness.

Going out later to a Winter Fete in a park. Usually a good Family day out.

Fun and frolicks in the snow. As long as your well wrapped up it's fine to be out and about.

Not much fun if you're slipping on Icy pavements and roads though.

Need to get some fresh milk when I'm out. Only 4ltrs left. And I like my milk.

Catch you later.

Have a good day ya all.

Rita,

Portsmouth.....I took my wife round Portsmouth to see some of the places I knew. This would be around 1995 or so. I was also taking her around my other haunts on the South Coast.

I was shocked to find a lot of the older buildings had been demolished.

There was one row of houses that led out to the bridge over to HMS Excellent, the Royal Navy Gunnery School on Whale Island. The street had been cut in two with a new road driven through it. Sad. They were quaint wee houses.

That mess of a place, The Cascades, Car Park, who the heck allowed that to be built ?. I think it was later demolished. No wonder.

Marliyn,

I've been thinking about that wee Cottage at the bottom of the steep hill at Bickleigh that we both know.

Wonder if the owners got snowed in?

Perhaps the Marines would dig them out. ROFL

Morning everyone I have a wide choice of breakfast this morning with Linda and Stephens. I am pleased I wont have to wash up the dishes.

Maddie I know where you mean now. I went in there but I had no idea what the place was called. I expect I will go there again next year when the weather is better.
I was disappointed that the older buildings were demolished, as well Stephen I love looking at the old ships the Tall ships are my favourite.my Great Uncles service records show all the ships he sailed on which included Victory. Hood ,Wellington. Seaflower to name but a few. then my uncle Charles who was a regular sailor during the second war sailed on HMS Hood which was strange two different ships but two Uncles served on. Hoods.

The Hotel my sister and I stayed at in Weymouth was called.
"Best Western Hotel Prince Regent.! overlooking the sea front it had around 400 rooms I was amazed to be told by the manager it had been a hospital for the troop in 1914-18 That was why the chose the spots oppsite it for the war memorials as it had been easier bringing back the troops who were injured. from France. which made sense when I thought about it.

weather not nice here the ground is frozen the snow melted and then the black ice took over.

have a good day everyone.
