Hello all you lovelies now who use to say that ?
Pauline I cannot beleive it took two weeks ? the mail had been very slow I had 8 cards and two letters plus my "Willesden History Society Magazine "arrive this afternoon my letter from the hospital on my wafarin results is sent first class it should arrive the next day.and it arrved 10 days late Marilyn that is good news that Pete is home from the hospital for Christmas..I hope the roast goes well not burnt offerings lol Pauline thanks for sending the tall dark haired guy just what I needed to make me happy. My daughter phoned she was worried I told her not too. she said she will phone tomorrow and see how I feel ? then if I want to I can go to them for Christmas eve till the day after boxing day. but I told her I didnt think I would go as I dont want to be ill while there it is not fair on my S I L when he is getting over his cancer.chemo. s to give him this would be terrible. she intends to collect me on Friday morning if I go? I am not that worried being here on my own. I am everyday so two days wont make any difference to me. Thank you everyone for being so kind and thinking of me,
Rita

Patricia,
We have at home an authentic part of the Mary Rose and a Certificate to say thats what it is.
I helped in the raising of her all those years ago and that was my reward..
A great keepsake for my family.
I sometimes feel as old as the 'Warrior' ROFL

Rita,
Nice to see you posting a wee note.
I can understand why you would want to stay at home.....secure....in your own environment....where you feel relaxed.
I like my own wee nest.
My daughter wants us to stay with her on Christmas Eve.....no chance.... I'll be with them all on Christmas Day.....and I'll have a great time.....but on Christmas Eve I like to cuddle down in my own wee bed and relax.
'There's no place like home' as the song says.

Rita it's such a shame that you don't feel up to going to your daughters. But I can understand your worry over your S.I.L.
You are lucky to still be getting your cards through, all we have had today is a bill, and a card for some unknown person, sent to a place called Midway, and not Medway where we live, and not even the correct address. It was also in the name of person we have never heard, not even the right road. We checked to see if there was another road with a similar sound to our road, but there wasn't one So one poor family are minus one card this year, and all because of the wrong address. I know I sent Paulines first card to the wrong address, but I had more detail on the envelope, than there was on this one. AND it got to Paulines at the same time as the second card I sent. lol She has got a brilliant postal service at her end of the country.
Pat, have a lovely Christmas at your sisters, and come back after and let us know how it all goes.
Stephen love, I thought you were our "Warrior" our knight in shining armour, taking us all on good nights out.

Mommy
Of course I'm your ' Shi*te in nining armour '
Christmas Card delivery....
Years ago we received a card addressed as follows.....
Stephen and Isabella House with a big dog, Behind the Church Falkirk
Falkirk was a fairly big town where we lived at that time.....wish I had kept the envelope......as an inspiration to present day Postmen.

That made me chuckle Stephen. It was the same with the card we received today. It was no good putting it back in the post, as it would no doubt have ended back here again. I wouldn't mind, but it was delivered by our regular postman, and he knows our surname, and he must have realised the address was wrong, as our road is called by the term " Way " and the address on envelope the word "Drive".was used. It insanity, mind you I am quite famous for being insane. Ooops who said that, oh it was me.

Mommy I always look through my phone book when something comes by the post to my address and it is not mine. I had relation in Devon who lived behind a pub in a small house and the address was back street and the pubs name was on her mail the house had no street it was on its own.but her letters always got to her.I dont think it there anymore?
In Norfolk there was a small road in the little village and the little houses which were at one time fishermans homes there was a litle alley between them and there was a lovely house stood on it own and it was called the NUTT house, the owners name. I had a friend in Ealing with that name and I asked her if they were related. ? they were not.
Some of my Devon ancestors had their cottages without numbers but they were named after the tenant one was called Abrahams cottage another was Absloms cottage. I dont suppose they had much mail they were too poor.

Maddie I am sorry your not well. this flu bug is going around fast and furious My doctor told me he was surprised how it had affected so many people. I said its my own fault I didnt have the flu/ swine flu injection because wanted one and not the other. he told me dont worry about it. but to call him if I felt any worse. but I dont at the moment I think because I have had a rest spent some time in bed and have had only water and tea today.until I cooked a small pastie for my tea I felt a little better after that.

My daughter just told me she went to buy her turkey this afternoon from her local supermarket she brought what they call a crown it cost her £18 it had no legs or wings. I said they must have got rid of the wings so it didnt fly off anf the legs so it didnt run away.? joking aside she usually buys one bigger than the one she brought , she asked why they had no bigger ones ? the manager told her because people are on a low income with all the cuts they brought smaller turkeys and people were pleased so they were selling well.she said she brought Pork as well

Morning everyone, hope you all had a peaceful night. Maddie and Rita, I do hope you are both feeling better today. Marilyn, glad Pete is home with you for Christmas, make sure he takes things easy. Mo, have you recovered from the trip yet? I didn't go back to sleep yesterday, might as well have got up early and got some housework done. Only 2 days left now to do any last minute shopping, then anything I forgot we will have to do without. Stephen did it get any colder last night where you are?
Breakfast is ready, on hotplate. cereal or porridge.
bacon, sausage, eggs, mushrooms.
toast, marmalade or jam.
(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)? tea or coffee.
If you are going out today take care and stay safe. Jean xx ~~~~~~~~~~~ to anyone I didn't mention xx

It is so icy here this morning the cars were still.while their wheels were going around in our car park I could hear the crackle as the ice broke
I am too warm, I have opened my bedroom and frontroom windows.I will leave them open for a little while to let the fresh air in. I sept well but have headache this morning and the snuffles. and my cough is worse today than it was yesterday. so I wont be going anywhere over christmas.
Maddie I hope your feeling a little better this morning? Pat I hope you have a good break over christmas and I dont mean your arm or leg. LInda looks like your going to join the flu brigade. I do hope it is not too bad.and by christmas day your be feel so much better. Catherine the shops will be sold out by the time you go shopping everyone is stocking up. Jean you are a good girl doing the breakfast this morning and what a choice we have as usualy. Shelly I had to laugh at your remarks about the turkey my daughter brought. I think they might have put the legs and arms in a bag ans sold them to make more money Lol.
have a good day everyone. Rita
