Dermot I bet you have a stair lift. ? .I thought i reconised you ? your the guy who goes up and down on that stair lift on my computer adverts your names Steve not Dermot.

I have read all that has been written since I was on last. . In my youth we had a fish and chip shop at the bottom of our road and I use to go in there and ask for three penny worth of crackling the batter that dropped off the fish while it was being fried. He use to put it into a little white paper bag and fill it to the top, you helped yourself to the salt and vinegar on the counter.
.
For one shilling and sixpence you had a big piece of fish and chips enough for two people., we had small bottles of Tizer or Lemonade. I dont rember how much they cost.? it was a long time ago

Tea or Coffee

Porridge or Cereals, Egg or Bacon Rolls.

Still on a light breakfast to help your recovery.

Morning All.

What a Party that was........Not

Where were you all you Party Poopers.

Probably lying down in the 'recovery' position eh .

It's dark, raining and miserable here.

I'm desperate to get out for a decent walk but it's too dangerous underfoot.
Water and slush on top of ice. A pure skating rink.

I had two lovely wee lassies staying with me last night.

It's not often we have them but it allows their Mum and dad to get a break that they deserve

Both of them were up at six this morning. Just as well I'm an early riser.

Normally we would take them somewhere during the day but they have a Party at a friends house today.

Have a good day ya all.......catch you later.

Morning Stephen and all others
Stayed up late last night got engrossed in a Catherine Cookson film. It was good.
Wet here too. At least the snow is melting away.
Should be off to West London today, waiting on a phone call to see how everyone is today.
Hubby is off now for the next three days, so he can relax a little.

Have a good day everyone

Morning All,

Got back safe & sound last night, only took 7 hours !!

And the house was FREEEEEEEEZING........so all rads had to go on and two fires were lit in a matter of minuets......so cold that I grabbed my long fleecy dressing gown that I really don't wear much as I feel old in it ..LOL then to my embarrassment my neigbour next door came around the back door with a parcel that he had taken in for me, oh I did look a sight and explained that I had be wearing this granny dressing coat to greet you, Oh he said don't take it off it suits you !!! Cheeky sod I said to him...LOL

Now I wasn't home more than 5 mins and the other son rang to ask if I could have his kids for the day .......now I know I'm a kind Grandma .....BUT ....I need some time to myself or am I a MUG ?
So agreed on morning only to look after them then I'm off to the Shops for the sales , I need to buy me some tops !! and bottoms ..
I also need to walk all this food off around the town.

What Party were it supposed to have been Stephen Yesterday ? Confused a bit ..

Its raining here and still very cold but its not going to stop me from going out ..LOL

Linda what Catherine Cookson film were you watching last night ? I have read most of here books and still love all the films and have seen many on the telly, I went to bed early last night so didn't even look and see what was on TV.

I would have loved to have seen your face in that dressing gown when you opened the door to your neighbour.
I am pleased you made it home OK 7 hours what a journey. The party is suppose to be for this thread "The friendly thread " from when it started its anniversary.

Morning everyone,

Linda, I love those Catherine Cookson films and have all her books in hardback, a present to myself some years ago.
Hope everyone has shaken off germs/bugs now and can look forward to a happy new year. Have to do some housework today (Sob, sob) because I dont expect my girls will do any while I'm away.
Weather ok here today, very mild compared to what it was and awful wind has died down -YIPPEE -.
Friends popping round after lunch so dont know when I'll get back on.
Enjoy your day,

Cath xx

Hi All Again,

Had my bath..... just reading the last two messages.

Rita ...Friendly thread is 4yrs old April this year ...(started 2007) as I can always remember I was receiving Radiotherapy & Chemo at the time and the thread was started by a guy called Brain on behalf of ME !! LOL as I was unable to go to the library for Census and was put off asking on T.R.F as a few peeps were complaining that too many people were asking for help and not thanking for help.....So I felt that I couldn't ask for more help as I was unable to go out other than the Hospital. It got quite ugly on threads about people not thanking ,although I always did , So Brian said we will have a Friendly thread and help one another and that was how it was created,
Pauline Shelly & Sue & Lady were the founder members amongst a few more that left along the way.
So that was why I started to join Ancestry and a few other sites to help me gain info.
Unfortunately Brian had to leave for personal reason.

Catherine .....I have most of the hard backs of Catherine Cookson my sons gave me one every time it was my birthday. and I will never get rid of them although they take up too much space in my spare bedroom ...

Dash It !

Missed that Dressing Gown......and the Bath time.

'Fluffy Paws' is slipping up.

Marilyn,

Years ago I went out into the street we were living in at he time......it was 2am.....I had been awakened by a Taxi peep, peeping on his horn.

grabbed a dressing gown...flew out the door.....yanked open his door and gave him a pile of verbal......he sat with his mouth open just looking at me.

slammed his car door....nearly taking it off the hinges.....and went back to my bedroom.

my dear lady was affronted......you are a disgrace.....I'm ashamed of you...etc etc.

Then she burst out laughing.....'You must have looked really threatening dressed like that'

'You're wearing MY dressing gown'

It was a nice pink frilly one.

Oh Boy ! Bet that taxi driver had a few laughs at my expense eh.

GRMarilyn

GRMarilyn Report 28 Dec 2010 11:19

Stephen.....at least yours was frilly, mine was plain old baby pink fleece .

I have sent you all some photo's of my wedding and a couple of me at different times also my two sons are included when they were younger.

Dont give me any cheek .....BACK ...Please ..LOL

Rita Report 28 Dec 2010 11:53

I lost my last message.

I have a complete set of Catherine Cooksons DVDs the first was released 15 in that set, they did another which had 12 in. The Tilly Trotter they were going to do a DVD follow up on that but they didnt the two books that followed that were Tilly Trotter Weds and Tilly Trotter WidowI have those.
I also have the collection of Jane Austin DV's and books.

Stephen I thought you were going to say you got locked out.? My father in Law did the dressing gown and shouting in the early hours of the morning. but he had shut the door and could not get back in. my Mother in law didnt hear him so he stayed on the step for another hour before his son came with a key to let him in.

Marilyn I had to smile at you in your Hot Pants way after my time, it was my daughter that wore those. she had lots of pairs of them. I had a swiming costume which in those days was a bit daring so i was told by my friends. I have a couple of photos of me in it. but now they would laugh and say how old fashion. how times change.
The wedding photos were lovely Marilyn your Pete has not really changed much got older of course but you can see it is him.

Rita

I have been out to the shops. the Chemist was shut BOOTS CHEMIST I was disgusted people had come to collect perscriptions. I only took one over so I posted mine through the door. I went and did some shopping in Waitrose and then came home. no ice the only ice is in our car-park at the back of the flat.

Afternoon all.

Hope everyone is well and warm.

Rita you felt well enough to go out, so did I.

I have just come back from town. First time out in 6 days. Not like me at all, I get a bit of cabin fever, staying in. Not too cold, but still coughing like a good-un.

I am now watching Sense and Sensibility, AGAIN. Colin Firth, and diving in the lake. Uuummmmm. Rather nice.

Havent looked on my emails yet, but looking forward to see Marilyns' photies.

edit. Lovely Marilyn, what a very pretty wedding dress, was that a separate jacket over the top. You all look great. Good looking sons too.

Is your 'traditional family' still intact after the Christmas festivities?

Or, is everyone gone back to having meals ad hoc on trays in front of the TV?

Interesting views on the Traditional Family on R4 now.

Maddie what have you been drinking ? please leave it along. Colin Fifth dives into the lake in Pride and Prejudice not Sense and Sensiblity thats Hugh Grant and he didnt dive into a lake.

Rita, you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. A drop too much cough mixture. lol

Sense and Sensibility with Emma Thompson, and Kate Twinset. Hugh Grant is a bit wet, but not by diving in the lake.

Pride and Prejudice, with Alison Steadman, as the truly awful Mrs Bennett. Call it is Senior Moment.

I still feel as if my head is stuffed with cotton wool.

lol
