Cor blimey,
what a clever bunch on this thread!!!! I must be in the wrong place, lol. I can draw matchstick men - good enough for Lowry-. I do like arts and crafts as a hobby when I've time though.
Sun still shining here but temperature dropping rapidly now. Had a good tidy up round the house so feel like I've achieved something today and feel so much better, I bought some Ginger and Lemongrass cordial and have just had some hot, its lovely. Can smell dinner cooking (OH's turn), slow roasted belly pork, roast potatoes, baby carrots and braised red cabbage and my mouth is watering. Might even open a bottle of wine to go with it, oh and we have Christmas pudding and fresh Guernsey cream for dessert. Yum.

We've got quite a few talented people on this thread haven't we? Shelly is very artistic as well, she makes some lovely things.

Hmm, that drink sounds nice Cath, might look for it when I go food shopping on Tuesday. I like lemon and I like ginger so it should suit me.

Come to think of it, I've got some ginger wine waiting to be made, might make it tomorrow.

I've cleared all the snow but the ground is frozen, and I've just heard on the news that we're going to have more snow overnight.

I'm doing curry for tonight, better go and get it started.

Catch you all later.

Pauline you are gifted look what you do on photos; and look at the things Shelly does.
everyone has some sort of gift.maybe cooking .or Gardening

My daughter told me when she phoned just after dinner her road was alike a sheet of glass in Hayes but was beging to thaw slightly with the sun shining but she thought it would freeze over again tonight. It has started to get frosty here the cars are getting white and shiny

I have my holiday booked deposit payed and all we are waiting for is the conformation to come through. Sandown The Ocean Hotel. the coach will collect us from Woking Station 5 minutes from where I live. its for July.

We have also booked out hotel for my Granddaughters wedding in Christchurch Dorset. in September.
all I have to do now is pray my scan will be the same as before and its not grown.?

News by the way is that Victoria Beckham is expecting a baby.

I have to save now perhaps I will hand a hat around.

Back again jiggety jig. lol

Pleased your cleared up the Stan Lees for me Rita. I know of the American fellah, my son used to collect the Marvel comics, and Stan Lee was the originator of Spiderman I believe.

I too can draw and paint. I embroider, and do counted thread samplers, did them for my children, and my neice. I used to knit for the children, usually the matinee sets, and jumpers for school. I never to could fathom crochet, perhaps if someone sat next to me, I could pick it up. I used to do batik printing, and also cake decorating. But I dunno, I dont seem to have the time nowadays. Yet when the kids were small, I used regularly to bake and get them to help me. Usually flour and eggs on the floor, but they loved licking out the bowl. lol

It has been wet here today, and pretty grey. Hope everyone is well and warm.

Pleased you got booked at the Ocean Rita, I am sure you wont be disappointed. The is a war memorial on the prom. and a disused mine just along from it. The Pier no longer has a theatre on it, but Shanklin still has theirs.

Checked out the drawing from Stephens relative. I think it must be pen and ink, as the lines are very crisp.

I think we all possess a great gift. The gift of laughter. It is the greatest medicine. Plus compassion.

Just off to give my halo a polish. lol

See you later

Hi all.
Just popping in to wish Jean all the best for her results for tomorrow, and hoping they have found out what her problem was.

Maddie mind that halo doesn't choke yer. LOL

Fed up today, don't know why, I think it's just one of them days.

Cheer up Mo.

I know it is cold, wet, miserable, blooming cold. But, hey, it is January.

They said this weekend would be a misery for most folks. It is the anticlimax after Christmas and the New Year.

See as I missed most of it, it dont bother me too much. lol

True, the old halo is getting a bit tight. It is called a choker, dont yer know. Just giving it a polish in time for the Royal Weddings. What a load of hype we will have from now until then.

apparently the fine china business have gone into overdrive to get their tat out for the Wedding. They will have double bubble this year with William, Zara and the Duke of Edinburghs' birhday. No doubt Harrods will have 'tasteful' items for sale. pmsl

Hope all goes well for Jean, she has a special appointment in March. So get up and at 'em Jean.

Sees ya.

Hi Maddie.
Sorry for being an ol misery guts. I'm cheesed orft, I wanted to watch the dancing on ice, but im indoors is watching the darts final on the t.v.
If I want to watch it, I have been told I can go upstairs and watch it on the box up there, but the heating has not been on today, and it's turned colder now, so I am giving him the cold shoulder, and sitting here sulking. LOL

I don't think I will bother to buy the fine china thats going to be on sale, for all the celebrations this year. If I have another moody day, like today, I just might throw it at him.

Did you wear a choker when they were in fashion, I know I did. I thought I was the bees knees with my cameo broach on a piece of ribbon, strung around my neck. lol

Of course the pearls came out for wearing on a Sunday. (not really)

Hi Cath nearly missed you then, this one finger typing takes ages.

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 9 Jan 2011 19:45

Hello Mo.

I do know what it is like to have an orft day. I have had one for about 2 weeks. lol

Yes I wore a piece of black velvet ribbon with an ornamental cross on it, with me dolly dress, and dolly shoes. I WAS THE BUSINESS. pmsl

Talking of pearls. Dont laugh. It was our Pearl Wedding Anniversary a few years back, and we were nosing down Hatton Garden. I saw a string of Black Pearls in one of the windows. I commented how unusual they were, as I have a string of imitation white pearls. Lo and behold, I got the black pearls with earrings to match. They are beautiful. Only for High Days and Holidays.

Kevin is watching the Darts [with his eyes closed] some bloke called Wolfy is on. Looks a bit arrogant.

Sorry, I used to be a secretary, Mo, I can type 80 wpm.

Stands back and waits for the shoes to be thrown.
lol

Mo in Kent Report 9 Jan 2011 19:52

Forgot to say Maddie, I would not let Roly buy me pearls for our anniversary, as we were always told that pearls are a sign of tears.

My daughter bought me some fresh water pearls a couple of years ago. I feel mean as I dont wear them very often. Stupid superstition really, but I dont want to tempt fate.

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 9 Jan 2011 19:58

Now that is a funny thing, my Mum always said that something else represented tears. Oh blimey, I cant think of the stone. Very pale, and if you hold it to the light, we can see the colours of the spectrum through it.

Oh crickey, I will wake up at 2am and shout it out. lol

When we went to the IOW last year, kevin bought me a string of multicoloured pearls at the Pearl Factory.

All this jewellery, and no where to wear it.

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 9 Jan 2011 19:59

OPALS.

lol

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 9 Jan 2011 20:03

Now I lurve opals Maddie. The engagement ring I wear now is opals, and I also have another two opal rings.
This is about my fourth engagement ring, I keep losing the stones out of them. I have lost diamonds and sapphires, so now have settled for the opals instead.

MotownGal

MotownGal Report 9 Jan 2011 20:07

Daft isnt it. I wont wear Opals cos I am superstitious.

I only wear my wedding ring for work. I am frightened of losing my engagement and eternity rings.

Back later, Lark Rise is on.

Sees ya.

LindainBerkshire1736004 Report 9 Jan 2011 20:47

Evening all
Well today has flown.
I did some washing. Then after lunch we had a drive to Windsor and walked down the Long Walk towards the castle. We then walked down Peascod Street. No we didn't go into any shops. But I did see that Boots has moved back to where thhey were many years ago. They have taken over the old Woolworths. That surprised me.
Oh I managed to get the cough mixture and it tastes horrid!! But I do think that the coughing is getting less. I have slept better too last night.
Watching Larkrise now............... hubby said you don't watch this do you?
Oh I did some research earlier tonight and found a photo on Ancestry of my mother's cousin's husband. I hadn't seen him since I was a young girl, possibly at my parents Silver Wedding Anniversary party and that was 35 years ago. He unfortunately passed away in 2005. But I found out a lot about the family today.

Hope everyone is feeling better and that Jean gets good news tomorrow.
Sleep well friends.
Hoping you don't have to endure too much snow Stephen and Pauline too

Linda :o) XxX

MotownGal Report 9 Jan 2011 21:51

I watched Larkrise. I like the way they use a golden filter over the lens of the camera, to give it a nostalgic hue.

Did I ask Rita to look something up for me on my tree? Remind me if I did, cos I have forgotton.

I have come to a full stop and a comma on mine. Not until the 1911 Census becomes fully available will I be able to look stuff up. I dont want to keep posting on the boards to get others to look at things for me, I prefer to do it myself, cos I wander off at a tangent.

Keep warm and well everyone.

Nighty night.

Maddie

edit. Just re-read Ritas post. Julia Sawahala is in Candleford. Her sister Nadia is skating. They are VERY alike.
