Elizabeth, she has phoned her mum,and she has had such a great time
in Turkey, that she wants to go again next year.
All I hope is that next time the flight is booked through a reputable company, that doesn't go bust overnight.

I was wondering where Pauline has got to as well,It's not like her to miss
popping on here, even if it is only to say hello.
Don't forget BB is on at nine tonight Shelly.
I hope that smelly old Ben has a bath or a shower tonight, dirty git not bothering to have one in all this time,he must smell to high heaven.

Hello Jean, I hope you have a comfortable night. God bless you.

Dear Shelly

Hello

I use Ancestry (can I say that on here).

I am looking for my ancestors in the East End of London in the 1880's.

Instead of working backwards, I have sometimes had to do research sideways, with other siblings or through neighbours.

The 1911 census was good for bringing details up to date but there were so many problems with the site.

I also use Genuki for info about a district and the parishes.

Take care
Very best wishes
xx

Hello girls.
It has been a lovely day here, brilliant sunshine, not a cloud in the sky.
Rita knows when to get away doesn't she.
We had roast chicken, and loads of veggies for dinner tonight.
I am waiting to hear if my grandaughter has managed to get a flight back from Turkey tonight. Bless her she's only 18,and this is the first holiday, she and her boyfriend have had together abroad.
They had booked a taxi to take them to the airport,at 2.00p.m for the 7.20 flight home. They had to do it that way,as there was no info on the jiffy bus that transports holiday makers to the airport. No one seemed to know what was happening.
That air company going bust has a lot to answer for.

Dear All

Hello

Hope you are okay.

The weather is just about right....warm but a breeze too.

Things have been very hectic lately.

I am trying to finish off some tree lines with my research so keep referring back to the research sites.

Take gentle care all
Very best wishes

Hello everyone, hope you are all having a good day.
Marilyn, I bet you have enjoyed having your Grandchildren for weekend.

I wonder if there are any families who dont have disputes of some kind.

I hope anyone on holiday is having a great time, and I sincerely hope know one on here is booked with the travel firm who have just gone into liquidation. It must be awful for the people stranded abroad, and of course just as bad for anyone who should be travelling this week.

Sorry, I seem to be wittering on about anything and everything.

Take care .
Jean xx

Morning Shelly and any other latecomers
I was up earlier but checking e-mails and doing the thoughts thread and missed adding here.
Ironing and gardening today as hubby is at work.
We are home today so might get out for a walk later if he is up for it, then again he might just need to relax.
Tomorrow is back to the consultant about the breathing and asthma. It has been more wheezy for a couple of days and the cough just doesn't go.

Have a nice sunday everyone

Linda :o) XxX

Hi all, aren't families complicated lol? Most of us seem to have had some sort of upset or muddle of sorts.

I am not having to pay for anything for the wedding, why should I - we aren't married so he isn't my stepsonand altho I have tried to help the boys in the past I have had it slung back at me when they got into bother and got the blame when it was their mother begging me to help sort out the mess the younger one got into with a girl and her family, he still owes them thousands. I was the only person said the mother, who could speak to the other family with objectivity, all she used to do was cry at anything they said and cry to o.h. and to her own partner, and o.h. used to get in a temper as did his ex's partner so they asked me to be the person in the middle with son dictating emails and telling me the info, turned out to be a pack of lies and he had conned the family for money and not paid them back. His mother was upset when bailiffs went round and had to ask her son, the one getting wed, to help pay some of the debt his brother owed to get them off her back. That debt was never paid back or the money o.h. loaned him to pay off more debt to the family but o.h. says the other family were at fault for lending the son money to buy a flash car etc
I would never get involved again helping them out - they can do it themselves or let their partners sort out their problems now.
As for booking a holiday, can't do that as I don't have access to his credit cards etc - this is not a normal situation of people living together, he doesn't know how to live like that, he kept his money separate from his wife I think, he had his and she had what she could earn part time towards the end of the marriage and it was him who would buy the car and such off his own bat.

Anyway we have the hotel booked now for the Friday night and Saturday night so can get up gently on the day of the wedding and get ready without the worry of driving 45 miles in our finery and possibly coming across a hold up with roads as it's August Bank Hol Saturday.
The bride to be's sister works at the hotel, I hadn't realised that but as I started talking to the girl on the phone, she told me who she was and she put us in a deluxe room with kingsize bed so will be much more comfy than the basic rooms, her sis had arranged for several rooms to be held for guests to stay on Saturday but no one else is staying Friday I don't think so should be nice, if the son from NY and the groom not staying here in Norwich at their mother's and risking not getting to the ceremony lol as bride to be's father says is taking a chance, they will be at a cheaper hotel locally so o.h. can meet with them for a while if he wants and I will make sure I have a couple of good books and can rest in the room after dinner, do my nails and that sort of thing. It will be lovely as long as he doesn't get drunk with his sons . if he does I will make him sleep in the bath!

Marilyn you must be bemused as to the reason for that note, someone definitely wants you to watch the programme I think and knows more than they are letting on. Curiouser and curiouser!

must catch up with more emails so take care all, too tired to read all the posts so apologies for missing stuff that's gone on recently.
Doesn't mean I don't care!

love
Lizxx

At long last I watched Captain Corelli last evening, I got the book to read when we went to Kefalonia the first time but didn't get through it, got the video as well and never watched it cos o.h.'s video player broke, recorded it on dvd a while back and still didn't get to watch it and finally watched most of it a little while ago, but I missed some bits cos I had to dash to the loo.
I will wait a while and forget what I saw and then read the book through. I was very engrossed in trying to recognise areas of the island, I know it was mainly filmed in Sami and we visited there a couple of times but would love to go back and spend more time there, it's a lovely island, or it was earlier in 2001 etc

Never mind Shelly I think everyone has got these sort of problems in their families .

Its gone through all my mothers side as well, she never spoke to her Dad at the time of his death.

And we grandchildren weren't allowed to see my granddad ,but we all did behind my mothers back ..LOL

So I know what you are going through........

I do know that not all parents are good parents , thats why I say to my boys you both owe me nothing....so live your life as you want it.!!

And they are ....LOL and living it well like tonight I got their kids and they out gallivanting ...
One has gone down the other one has just decided to have a shower
10-30 pm...... !!

Think I'll have to go in after and tidy up the mess , it will be towels all over the place, and talc.....Hmmm.
