Where Is Everybody !???
I've just finished ironing the lounge curtains which I washed this morning. Luckily they dried and are now hanging nicely at the windows, giving us our privacy again.
What to do tomorrow? Not sure yet might need to wait and see if the weather is good some gardening.
Hubby at work on earlies................ might not be any flights if the ash is back though.
Rather tired so early night tonight. Home around midnight last night it's too late for me.

Catch you tomorrow

Hi all.
Pauline I am so sorry to hear off your sisters setback. My thoughts and prayers for all the family.
Rita,it's nice to know that romance doesn't end, after the wedding day.
Your beloved husband sounds like he was a very loving, sensitive man,who thought the world off you. And he has left you so many lovely memories.
It's strange,I was only thinking yesterday, wondering if you had got the DVD'S back.
They must also bring back wonderful memories, off when you were all a happy family unit.

The reason for my being late Marilyn,is that we went to see our two grandchildren,at our sons house. He only has them every other weekend.
And we had not seen them for a few weeks.
Am I forgiven for being late PLEASE. I will stay later this evening to make up for it,honest I will. LOL.
Ohhh are you leaving us again Marilyn, another week without you, what are we to do. Boo Hoo

Hi Marilyn no I dont know Looe that well I have been there a few times when I stayed at Mother in Laws and when I stayed with Aunty in Polperro. I know some places quiet well (well did unless they have altered it ) my step mother in law (came from scotland in berive ) and my Father in Law lived in Cambourne Cornwall and we used to go there for ten days twice a year, My Mother in law worked as a nurse in a home for children who had cripplling complains she used to look after Bob Monkhouses son I think he was named Raymond ..
we use to go out and about a lot , from my bedroom window I could see for miles around we went to Lands End a lot as well as St Michaels Mount.
Perranproth, Truro, Falmouth (we were there when the oil tanker spilled all that oil and it came onto the beach my coat got ruined when that happened.we brought a rubber dingy from Newquay as we had a cabin cruiser on the thames and wanted one for that.
we also went to Lizard Point and Bodmin Moor my in laws lived near Redruth. but I am going back to 1971 now.
I recently sent off some 8 mm moives to be put onto DVD I had no idea what was on them but found them in a box belonging to my husband he didnt label them there were 16 in all. I sent off 8 and got the DVD back last Wednesday and there are some of my children on the beach and surfing in the sea at Perranport there is also one of Mother in Law and Father in Law walking down their garden path going to the Garage to get there little car out. the others where when we went camping another was of us in and about the house so I am going to send the others off in a couple of weeks time

Morning All,

Liz,
Yes I do know Pelynt its only a couple of miles from Looe and has a very old Church , very tiny village, but have not been there for ages.

Might go next week and have a look at all my old haunts while I'm in Cornwall.

Pauline,
How sad .......your lovely sister has gone through so much, amazing how much one can take in this bloody illness that she has to endure.
I often think about her, and will say more prayers for her.

Its lovely and sunny today, yesterday it never stopped raining what a contrast .

Morning all this is the second time I have started to type this because for some reason it vanishes and I have to start a again.

I met my husband Liz in 1949 we married in 1951 and we were very close he use to surprise me with fowers or chocolates or perfume he was so thoughtul whether it was because he came from a large family I have no idea.? everytime he went to play Golf on a sunday morning or to the Clay Pigeon shotting range or fishing he always brought me flowers. my son who went with him said it was embarasing at times
He would cook sunday dinner if I would let him he didnt mind anything like that even washing if I was ill but Ironing he was not keen on. so I count myself very lucky but I have been a widow now for 21 years and it is like a dream even now I wake and think it was a dream he died. but that is life full of ups and downs.
Liz I have never heard of the place you speak in Cornwall I know parts of Looe but mostly Polperro and Cambourne that was where my Step mother and father in Law lived from 1966 till he died in 1971 he was such a nice man.

well I think I will finish the washing up and go out for a walk while the sun is out.

see you all later.

Morning all, I've just been sorting my emails out because I didn't get the chance to do it yesterday. My sister's had another operation, she's in a lot of pain, she's had a bad couple of days.

It's really sunny here but I've been outside and it's freezing.

Rita, your husband must have searched around to find a card like that, it's a lovely keepsake. You'll never lose those lovely memories of him.

Rita, those last few posts got me all tearful, how lucky you were to be cherished and loved so much and what a shame your husband died so young - you should still be pottering round together, bless you. You certainly made a good choice when you chose him for a hubby.

Marilyn, I spent some time in Looe, well Pelynt, do you know it? I have been trying to find out what happened to my Dad's old mate, when I visited he was living in a caravan on a farm and helping out, but I think he went back to live with his sisters in Nottingham or Northampton. Lost touch with him before my Mum died. I was in touch with the landlord of the Jubilee Inn at Pelynt who was going to put up a photo of Maurice (Cook) but I didn't get round to getting back to him.

I love Cornwall, haven't been since 1998 but would love to go back again.

Must dash, o.h. up in a mo so I have to get off here and go to bed

Have a good weekend everyone.

Marilyn I too have letters written to me by m husand when he was in the Royal Fuislers I dont know what happened to the ones I sent to him. I have a pile of cards Birthday and Annversary ones he sent to me some in great big boxes but I didnt know about this one it is in a book form.
This one I thought of you LOL

A wife likes new dresses and hats going places , teas and shows, dinners and furniture . soaps .babies, parties ,novels chatting , baths and other peoples birthdays a husband who comes home on time with surprise gifts.

Many hopes and dreams will be packed away
tenderly with the doll the packets of letters
and the snapshot album. The future will devour the presents at an alarming rate she will find these more of courage , little things will become important the little things that only a husband can give
just the touch of a hand a loving word or a kiss yet these will tell her that she is still his most wonderful girl in the world. beyond that nothing really matters.

Awwwhhhhh Rita,

I would put that card in a box and lock it with the key......to keep forever .

I have in the loft somewhere !! my letters to my Pete while he was in the navy and his to me.......not sure why I have kept them, but I'm sure I would cringe at them now , as we must have been soppy and daft at letter writing .

One day I am going to find them and have a good read, then burn all of the letters. Cant let the boys see them ...LOL

Rita Report 14 May 2010 16:41

Looks like I am on my own again.

I was clearing a in box out and found a birthday card my husband sent to me in the early 1950's and it is full of verse called what is a wife.

one said
A girl becomes a wife with her eyes wide open
She know those sweetest words "I take the to my wedding husband
"really means "I promise thee to cook three meals a day
for sixty years :thee will l clean up after. Thee will l talk to even when thou
art not listening l worry about , cry over, and take all manner of hurts from.

A Wife is a girl whose doll is wrapped in tissue
and packed away in the wardrobe a girl with a packet of letters at the bottom of her glove box.
and a snapshot album that is never opened- each is a fragile with her girlhood.
each so treasure and so forgtten.

Now she lives in a hurried world, Get that man up
turn on the that stove, fry that egg, haul the wash, lift that furniture, paint that floor till the old back has 17 kinks and then he comes home and asks

What did you do today, dear. ?

It is full of verse like this the bit at the back he says

Happy Birithday to the Girl
Who;s all a wife should be
The girl who has become my world
The only girl for me.

I had a little cry after reading that.

Hi Linda I too have Barber in my family tree no blood related a Sarah Barber marriages a George Butler they are the parents of my Uncle Charlie who married my fathers sister Ida Lee.
I mentioned Polperro earlier on and my Aunty stayed there during the war as her husband was in the navy and he docked nearer to Polperro than he is one of the sons of Sarah Barber and George Butler. isnt that strange how you have a Barber and Marilyn born in Looe in Cornwall.
I use to go a lot to Polperro Uncle and Aunty had the house at the top of the Hill and when they sold it Rita Tusingham brought it (the actress.)

Morning Marilyn
Yes Shelly does know that I have Barbers in my tree, but we haven't found a connection yet !!!
I now have access to his tree on Ancestry and he has info I didn't have. You know keeping family stories to yourself and not meeting some cousins. But I may have surprised him as I told him my grandmother was married 4 times.................. he only had the first. Only 3 children from her first marriage though, plenty of step-children but I haven't looked for them at all.
Enjoy your lunch out

Nice day here. Curtains blowing on the line in the sun.

Have to iron and hang them again before I go out for the hen family meal, never ending
