Oi Shelly, you haven't answered my question, so I will print it out for ya. WHATS HAPPENED TO THE SUNFLOWER SEEDS YOU PROMISED TO SEND US LAST YEAR. LOL
Marilyn it was my dad who was glad to get rid off ME. Roly is a big softy where our kids are concerned.
Oooh Liz,Paul Robeson had a voice like that was as smooth as chocolate. Ol man river was favourite of mine.
Don't worry Rita, the only ladder I get close to,is a ladder in my tights. You lucky girl, getting all those pressies from your sister. Glad you had a nice day with her.
Got to go now,coz I have got darts tonight.

I said did you see the wailing wall she had and taken photo of it she took so many photos .they came out really good. we have paid for our holiday in Dorset in July and booked out rail tickets now I need the spending money lol. It is begining to get black the sky has big black clouds coming this way. not good. I am going to glance through the threads then get something to eat.

I put the song on cos Rita mentioned her Gran singing something like it to her, my Dad was from Buckinghamshire.
It was sung by Paul Robeson, from the film Big Fella (1937) I never had curly hair either, straight as a die, mine lol, but Dad only sang the chorus part, not the verses.
Don't think he was a film goer but maybe he was in 1937!

If the kids knocked the wall down, get them to put it back up for you. Ha thats a joke. Ollie will love playing out in the garden. Watch out for your flowers though,he is likely to pick them for you.

Pauline I was up at seven this morning. Our neighbours are teachers and leave the house at that time, banging every door in the house on their way out off the front door. Like Marilyn we have got bright sunshine here, but it is very very cold outside. Good grief Marilyn you are a cheerful charlie, four months off summer left. We are going to have an Indian summer, way into October. So no need to chase the sun, just stay here with us lot. Good luck at the doctors tommorrow Linda. Did both you and your OH cry when you saw your daughter in her wedding dress. We both had a good weep when we saw ours, but it is better for the father to see, before the big day,so that he gets over the shock off his little girl who is now a woman, dressed in all her finery. Roly cried for ages afterwards, and said that even though he knew she was now an adult,it suddenly bought it home to him, that he was losing her to another man. But not in reality, just how he felt at the time. Those were the days Rita, when I think we all had signs outside off the house, saying "CAFE OPEN " all welcome. My lot used to bring all their friends home for a meal,or a cuppa. It all changes when they have families off their own,and roles are reversed. When the grandchildren, have friends come for a sleep over. I think I preferred it my way with just a quick meal. Pauline I think we need to go and rescue Shelly from Marilyns tree. Get the axe out ready,Rita you can help me with the ladder, Linda can stand by with the phone,in case we have to call the emergency services. Lady and Yvonne can do the first aid if we need anything doing, like splinter removal.

The scumbag is going down the very dodgy medical route & our barrister doesn't want to relay on reports given by deffence barrister & wants our own reports. The scumbag changed from his original barister only 2/3 weeks ago!! There is too much for me to go into on an open forum. It was not at all easy for either of us to experience!!!

Hi everybody.
I've never heard that song either Liz - and like Marilyn, I had a mop of curly hair, still have if I don't straighten it. My dad sang to me every day but he didn't sing that one.
Rita, you must have spent a lot of time making chips for your grandchildren, must have been nice to put your feet up after they'd all gone.
Linda, you've got quite a hectic social life, you'll have to tell the doctor to hurry up and get something sorted, because you haven't really got the time to have an illness.
Marilyn, you're making Shelly work too hard, she hasn't got time to come on here now. Let her have a little holiday. Come on Shelly, get down from that tree.
Why have you got to go through the whole thing again in November Lady? Did he turn up? I don't understand why it wasn't sorted, I thought he was going to plead guilty (I don't really know anything about how the legal system works). It must have been hard for you and your mam.
Are you still in bed Mo?

Morning Liz, Marilyn and Linda
Linda hope things go OK for you at the Doctors you sound as if you had a good night out Saturday. wish your eldest a happy birthday .you didnt say whether it was male of female.?
Liz I know that song well it was sung to me as well by my Gran I think it came from a film of Paul Robson not sure which one he did quiet a few but had trouble in America as I recall.? could be wrong but I think it was him I saw him once in a film about a coal mine where they were trapped below.
Marilyn you treat your children too well they dont want to leave you but I always felt like a wet lettuce when they went home from my house I use to say to John (my husband) leave the washing up I will make a cup of tea and we can sit quiet for a while.
When I lived in Ealing the children use to come for Saturday lunch egg and chips or pie and chips it always had to have chips in the menue. there was my daughter her husband and there three children My eldest son and his wife and there four children and my youngest son with his partner and their children (one was hers from her first marriage the other was his ) I put up a BIG NOTICE "RITA'S CAFE "we didnt have dishwashers then so you can see the amount of washing up I had. when I moved to Norfolk that was the first thing I missed Saturday Lunch with the family.
I better get a move on as my sister is coming to day so want to sort lunch out.
see you later welcome all you late comers Rita

Meal out tonight for eldests birthday. Rather overshadowed by the wedding this year. Tomorrow is Drs. Friday a family meal for the older members who couldn't get to Butlins !!! Next Monday my breathing checks at the hospital.
So like Rita all appointments coming up.

Shelly keeps finding me everything I want with this tree .......its growing so fast I wont be able to climb it soon ..LOL
Now it is lovely and sunny here in Devon ,but a bit chilly best to have the sun shinning I guess , makes it feel a little bit summer ,but when you think of it we only got 4 months left of summer !! happy soul aren't I ? Just as well I go away and follow the sun.....

Hi all,
Rita, here are the words to that song, my Dad used to sing it to me I seem to recall, but I only remember the verse as you mentioned it!
MY CURLY HEADED BABY Sung by Paul Robeson on Conifer CMSCD 011 From the film 'Big Fella' (1937)
Oh, my baby, my curly headed baby, We'll sit below the sky and sing a song to the moo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oon. Oh, my baby, my curly headed baby, Your daddy's in the cotton fields a-workin' late and soo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oon.
So lulla lulla lulla lulla bye bye Does you want the moon to play with Or the stars to run away with? They'll come if you don't cry. So lulla lulla lulla lulla bye bye In your mammy's arms be creepin' And soon you'll be a-sleepin' Lulla lulla lulla lulla lulla bye.
Oh, my baby, my curly headed baby, I'll sing you fast asleep and love you so as I sing. Oh, my baby, my curly headed baby, Just tuck your head like little bird beneath its mammy's wing.
On the CD Paul sings lulla with a short a (as in dull) and my baby as written. Other versions I've heard use loola and ma babby.

Marilyn, it's lovely to see them but lovely when they go home again isn't it? I don't have my own grandchildren but I get my sister's grandchildren quite often.
Mo, you're right, it's very dangerous for your nephew to be working on a building site. Even when the hospital sign him off, he'll have to ask if he can continue to work in a place where he'll be going up ladders and using machinery.
