LindainBerkshire1736004 Report 11 Apr 2010 19:27

Evening Rita, Mo, Marilyn, Pauline, Liz, Lady, Sue and Yvonne.
Sorry I haven't been on lately. I am fine, but I have had FIL here since Thurs. Full time job actually.
They went to the pub on the way home Thurs eve, mistake as I hadn't cooked dinner ready for an unknown arrival time !!! By the time I'd cooked and they had eaten it they were both asleep by 8:00 LOL.
Friday we went out to a National Trust property Mottisfont Abbey near Romsey in Hampshire. We took a picnic. I got a lovely book of Francis Frith then and now pictures. In the second hand shop I got a book about The Red Cross in Hampshire from 1909 to 1991. I'll let you know how it goes when I read it.
In the evening our temporary neighbours knocked to see if we would join them for drinks while the sun was shining in their back garden. We stayed for a while and decided to share an Indian take away. We didn't come in til nearly 11:00.
Yesterday I had my brother and family coming we BBQ'd a leg of lamb, sausages and pork chops for me and my daughter(as we don't like lamb). They left about 10:00 and our daughter stayed the night so she could have a drink and not worry about driving.
Today we have done gardening then eldest brought her dog here for a walk while she went with her friend to a rescue centre to adopt a dog............... Today !!! She came home with a jack russell boy dog aged about 4/5. His owners had died and he was only there this morning. He seems really sweet.
I've only managed one name marker today so I must get on again.

Oh I actually hung washing outside today for the first time since October. The weather has been beautiful if a little cooler today. Unfortunately some idiot decided that noon was a good time to light a bonfire ............... unbelievable !!!

Enjoy your evening ladies

Linda :o) XxX

Rita, are you sure it's not the right one,Shelly has lots and lots off grave sites on that thread. You would need to go through it completely to find what you are looking for.
She's such a clever kid that girl,I don't know how she does it. She has got so much patience.

Rita Report 11 Apr 2010 15:35

Thank you Mo for that i was trying for an hour I must have passed it a dozen times.

That is what he has to do he went to Job seekers department as he was helping a man with some moving but it was two weeks work only a couple of days a week but he had to sign on and tell them if he worked two days he had to sign off and then on again isnt that silly being honest does not seem to pay. so they told him to try for an apprentishship he said he would like to do a plastering one and then told it will cost you £2000 what a bloody goverment scheme that is.
How can a young man pay out money like that when he has nothing coming in. I dont know what he is going to do now as he will have nothing coming in now the little job has finished.
He is trying so hard for a job as well..

Rita,I understand what you are saying about your grandson having to pay for the plastering course. How the heck is he supposed to pay for it,with no money coming in. My son has had to sign on for what they call Jobseekers. I dont know how that works,he has to sign on every week to get his benefits. He is hoping to train in some other kind off work, rather than going back into the pub trade. That has been so iffy butty for him.
With two children, who live with his ex,he still needs money coming in,to be able to give them some support.

PAULINE
Sounds like you need to change your boiler good job it is now and not in the middles of winter. My son had a very expensive boiler installed two years ago canot recall what it was called now but he had a skeleton one as it kept breaking down they kept coming out and repairing it so he told them he wanted a new repalcement they hummed and argued about it but he got it in the end gues what three weeks ago this one starfted playing up. he had an insurance with the gas company they come an see to it within 24 hours.
I dont have that worry as mine is under insurance and they come right away and see to it I just pull the cord in the hall and tell them what has happened and someone comes within a couple of hours.if they have to get part they leave a heater here if the weather is cold. a few years back we were all given new gas boilers whether we wanted them or not it was something to do with the Common market regulations so that is one good thing about this place mind you we pay for it in the long run through our Maintenace payments.but at least I dont have to pay in one go.

Marilyn I wonder if Drake will be there when you go and have a game of bowls on the hoe. ho ho

Mo you kept very quiet then last night I bet you were having a kip.

I phoned my daughter a little while ago to see how her husband was after his last weeks chemo I asked how my grandson was did he get a job as he had been made redudant he said he would like to do a plasters course and the job centre told him it would cost him £2000 he is under 25 how the hell can they expect a young guy to pay that kind of money he is un employed I thought they had a Goverment training course for people like him I did not realise they would have to pay for it.

Afternoon all.
Well it's a lovely day again here. I must go and get my bedding plants tommorrow,to harden them up before planting them out. Knowing my luck the flipping things would die on me otherwise.
I was loitering in the background for ages last night Rita. But when no one was posting,I thought that everyone must have gone out for the night.
Pauline I am so glad we had our boiler changed at the end off last year. There was nothing wrong with the old back boiler, but im indoors was not prepared to take a chance on it breaking down. We had had it installed 16 years ago,and I moaned about having the new one put in,but I am so pleased it's done now.
Hi Marilyn,Shelly,Yvonne,Linda,Lady,and not forgetting Sue.

Hi Pauline,

We have had a new boiler installed just last year ours was 19yrs old.
Although it never went wrong hubby thought it could anytime, so we beat the old boiler and got a new one.
And its much more efficient than the old one, water is hotter and comes through quicker....well pleased.

Glad you are OK Rita ,I'm just doing a little bit more washing of towels and other bits & bobs.

Just put a Chicken Curry in my slow cooker.....cant be staying in to cook a roast today ! off later for a walk on Plymouth Hoe.....might do a bit of bowling... LOL

Morning Rita and Marilyn - and all the others when they get here.

Rita my heating is off again, it's not freezing this morning like it was yesterday but it's nippy enough to need the heating on for a couple of hours to take the night chill off the rooms. When I tried to put it on, it made a loud rumbling and banging noise as if it was going to blow up. I had to turn it off quick.

I'm never going to get an engineer out on a Sunday. I think we're going to have to have a new heating system put in, this one is 22 years old. I'm just pleased it didn't happen when we had all that snow and ice.

No I am still here wondered what had happened when I logged on and found no one on the thread. ? usually I dont go on much at nights and when I click on the next morning there are lots of little messages f rom one to the other.so I thought I would get in on the chat to fnd no one there.
Marilyn I dont always log on first thing although I am up quiet early now and again I have a late ly in but not very often.

Shelly I bet you were having a fag and a drink to celebrate a win on the gee gee's ? I dont bet on the horses or Dogs or anything like that I hate watching them race around and jump over hedges I always worry they will have an accident and get shot that happened once when I went to a race with my husband they had to shoot the poor horse and they put a screen around it while they shot it I didnt go after that. I dont recall where we were at the time I know it upset me.

What am I going to do today ? no idea take the day as it comes I expect have lots of little things i need to do but nothing really important.

I wont be seeing any of my family my younger son is in France on a fishing holiday my daughter is at home with her husband who has cancer as you know. the eldest son is unable to get out still although his leg is now out of plaster he just cannot wait to get better and back to his job.

Hi everybody, it was cold this morning when I got up, the heating wasn't working. The engineer has just got it going again, but the sun's out now and it's warm anyway. It was early this morning we needed it on, I've had to turn it off now, it's too warm. Well, at least it'll be working tomorrow morning when we need it.

Marilyn I'm getting worried about you, I've never known you to be up so early on a morning, it's not normal.

Rita, you and Marilyn could have been chatting to each other at 6.30 if you'd known you were both up.

The last cert I sent for hasn't come yet and it's been nearly 3 weeks now.

Think I'll do some gardening today while it's nice outside.
