LindainBerkshire1736004 Report 3 Apr 2010 09:17

Morning Rita and Pauline
Was nicer earlier but has now clouded up. Really need to get into the garden, so much to do and so little time.
Pauline all the invites have been made and gone. I am now doing the place settings. Just a rose bud and the first name. But a bit fiddly.

Had son, wife and dog over yesterday afternoon Hubby went for a walk with son and dog. Had BBQ fine. We did have hail but cooked before that came. Nice dinner............. garlic mushrooms to start. Steak and veg for main................ apple pie or profiteroles for dessert, I had fresh fruit salad after.
Today going to friends who live down the road for dinner so within walking distance
Rest of the weekend hopefully quiet. Must try to do some ironing then more cross stitch.
Well try to check on you all later.

Linda :o) XxX

Oh, I'm annoyed now, I've just typed out a long post and it just disappeared into thin air.

I'm not sure Marilyn would be able to get your toy-boy past customs Rita.

If the boat race is today I'll be watching it, I'll have to see what time it's on.

I'm still waiting for one of my certs to get here.

Hi Pauline

I bet they would have stayed where they were if it was this year. they would have had all the benefits of the lovely fresh air and had social benefits as well.
I always thought my family (Dads and Mothers ) came from London so I got a big shock when I found they had come from Mells a little hamlet as it was then in Somerset and Farway and Southleigh that was also a little hamlet. they had to walk to the farms every day and in bad weather at times.it was a good few miles as well over fields must have been a terible hard life..

They had to leave the lovely countryside behind Rita, they needed jobs. In those days the state didn't look after them.

How are you feeling today?

Rita

Rita Report 3 Apr 2010 08:45

Hi All
Nice to read your remarks on here. I wondered why my Lee's and Horwoods and Sheldon 's stuck neaby when one moved to Chelsea they all lived in the next roads in otherwords they could walk to see each the thing that made me laugh was one came and worked in a laundry then the others that followed from somerset did the same came from somerset and wokred in a laundry. my sister and I when researching see works in Laundry we say thats one of ours.
It seemed strange when you look back and see that they came from lovely countryside to built up towns. I wonder what they would make of it all now. ?

Morning all, I see Liz had an early night again......:o)

Thank you for your positive thoughts Yvonne, it's nice to know that you all care. Looks like we were both getting out of old relationships and getting into new ones at the same time........just at opposite ends of the country.

Looks like Marilyn will be back with us by Sunday afternoon/evening. Marilyn, you'll have loads to tell us because you haven't been able to talk to us much the last few weeks.....bet that was hard.....LOL

Shelly, if you want to get a cert, you'd better be quick, only a few days left before the price goes up.

Rita, I hope you stick to your guns and treat that estate manager the way she treats you. Let her know what it feels like to get no help from people.

I don't think Linda will have much time to herself for a while........not with 128 invitations to do.

Mo, you live the nearest, get yourself round there and give Linda a hand.

evening everyone

Rita hope your knee is easing a bit now,I don't like your Estate manager either, if i were you i wouldn't bother to do her any favours.

my kent and sussex Linghams moved around a lot most were ag labs so they went where the work was, my Hayes stayed around Maidstone, Kent.
My Gudgeons in Lancashire were shoemakers and some worked in the mills.

I'm still waiting for 2 certs to arrive perhaps they'll come tomorrow

Pauline sending possitive thoughts for your sister and in answer to your question a while back this is my first marriage, I met my OH in 1984. I had just finished with another boyfreind I had been seeing for a few years until I found out he was seeing someone else, soon gave him the elbow!! lol

Ello everyone.
Thank goodness Rita and Linda looked in today. I hope you both realise,
that we would have called out the search parties,to look for you otherwise.
Rita, you poor thing. You have been to hell and back lately. I think I will have to keep my eyes open for a nice chamber pot for you,or as we call them a (gazunder) coz it guz under the bed, it would save you having to keep running to the loo. lol
With all those pills you have to take, you will soon rattle as you walk.
It's nice that your neighbours, have been popping in to see you. But as or that thing called an estate manager, well what can I say. Just you remember to treat her,as she has done you, with total disrespect.
As Shelly has said,we will get the friendlies round to sort her out,she wont know what has hit her.lol
I hope the rain that we had bypassed you Linda,so that you could have your BBQ.
128 invitations,my goodness you are going to be busy Linda, good luck.
Hi Shelly,Pauline, Yvonne, Lady and our Marilyn.

I have been going through some of my family studies I did when starting to do the family tree..
Social conditions then as now dictated migration from Hamlet to Village to Town some going through chocie others being forced out through lack of opportunity .of jobs or financial difficilties . The mid 19th century saw the whole move towards industrial area's those with greater skills and better education preceded the less qualified . the early pioneers opened the way for the other to follow and we can see from the census forms most of the family that moved then had already got relations in those places. They were often single men who had gone in search of work and had settled down and married local women . brothers and sister followed with their young growing up children.

I was trying to sort out the families and why they went from one place to another other than jobs it all makes sense to me now. some of my early Horwoods moved from mells in somerset and they clustered together in Chelsea

Have any of you found this happened in your families.

The sun is shinning but it is raining it is not cold either so it looks like I have the best weather so far unless I am with Marilyn on board that liner.

The Estate Manager is not a good subject for me at the moment. I am waiting for her to ask me a for a favour she nearly always does,. example I am waiting for a parcel to come will you take in your house for me till i come back. or I am off to the doctor will you tell people l wont be that long. humm taken in my time not hers as she goes in the morning and she works 9.30 till 12. 30. I get people knock and ask would I give a message to the Estate Manager as she appears not to be in.
In furture I will say sorry your have to leave a note in her door , and not answer the door when I look through peephole and see a parcel deleivery man standing there and knowing I am not expecting a parcel. give her back some of her own ways.

Morning Pauline & Rita
Sorry I didn't get on yesterday, thought I had but the days are blurring.
Rita I hope you feel better today. Really don't like your housing manager and wish we could all write to complain of her treatment of you who live there. Take care
Went to Costco and got a few bits for gifts and myself a new dressing gown.
Had M yesterday, she seems to have given up sleeping in the daytime, but is exhausted by the time she goes home.
Did go to walk the dog, well hubby walked him and got caught in a hail storm................. rather wet.
Youngest here for a Thai green curried chicken last night. Have the final numbers for the wedding guests now..... 78 all day and 50 more in the evening. Just a few eh? Have to get on with the names now so they aren't being done the day before.................... about half way through now.
Son and hobbling wife coming to dinner tonight, hoping it's dry enough for a BBQ as we have steak. Tomorrow we are going to a friends for dinner so a night off. Then Sunday and Monday quiet maybe?
Off now to clear up and push the vacuum around

Hi Girls

well I have managed to make it too the computer this morning. I have had a terrible problem walking about and have been using two walking sticks.. the thught of going to the loo scares me and I have to hobble quickly. to the loo.
the tablets the doctor has given me are much stronger pain killers than the ones I have been taking I have been on Co-proximal (band from buying over the counter) these others are ones you can buy yet stronger. so now I have double my steriods taking 11 mm a day instead of 6 plus tablets for my athritis and Gout plus blood pressre, Thyroxin and these others he has given me. . for my knee. so you wonder how they know which direction to go to.
yesterday I left the door partly open as people kept coming to ask if I needed anything all except out Estate-manger who had two day s off but was still in her flat opposite mine.

I will try and catch you later.

love Rita

Morning all, or maybe I should say goodnight to Shelly.

Shelly, a pun's a word that can be taken 2 different ways and it's said in a jokey manner.

It's freezing here today, everything's white with frost, I suppose it's better than being white with snow.

I've already posted this once and it didn't appear on the thread.
