Rita,
Porridge and salt..........that's the norm in Scotland. And , of course , milk.
But you can add what you want to it.
In the mountains or Arctic with no milk I used to add a knob of butter to mine.
I have often made my own Muesli (Spl) with the dry porridge oats.
I know folk who add sugar and others who use jam.
It's all down to taste. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Morning all hope you all have a good day.
Jean, Steve has the hospital for a check up on Tuesday 7th the same day as me but not the same hospital or time I hope he gets no hitch. He is getting on well at the moment he had a fainting spell and what upsets him is he cannot go for long walks like he used, too. him and my daughter walked for miles.but this time last year we didnt think he would make it but prayers and positvie thought pulled him through that. He is 61 years old today. I am off to Norfolk with them next sunday week, if my check up goes OK ? I cannot wait to see all my old firends and neighbours.sometimes I feel quiet homesick for Norfolk.
Stephen I was going to have porriaget this morning, then I remembered my mother in Law used to put salt in hers so changed my mind she said porriage needs salt in.
Grapefruit is out cannot eat that due to my warfarin so I will have the poached egg please. with toast.
Linda hope your tablets start working soon .

Morning everyone, looks like we are going to have another hot, sunny day here. Linda, glad you slept well last night, hope you take it easy today and soon feel much better. Stephen, just tea and toast for me please. I was so sorry to read about your friends death, nothing anyone says can make it easier for you, but at least she will be at peace now and not suffering. What lucky children your Grandchildren are to have a Grandad who spends so much time doing things with them, bet they love you to bits. Rita, it was my pleasure to put Steve's birthday on, such a lot has happened to him in just 1 short year, hope he is able to enjoy his day today. Hope everyone is ok, have a good day. Take care and stay safe. Jean xx :-) :-) :-)

Just a quickie [as the actress said to the Bishop] ;-)
Yes I was referring to your cabbages Rita. ;-) Heard the Marie Lloyd song, She Sits Amongs the Cabbages and Peas? :-D
Mo I will be a good girl and slap on the cream tomorrow. I have quite fair skin and I burn before I go brown, so will be Factor 15 at least.
Big waves to the rest of the Friendlies.

Linda I was given antibiotics but as I am on warfarin they have a problem on what to give me Marilyn is right it is the inner ear that causes that. My doctor told me it takes time for it to go. sometimes you think it has gone and it comes back. Dr Kelly said when I replied I dont think I will every get rid of this. she replied O yea of little faith it goes and comes back with me. but as I suffer from Tinitus as well it is aloud noise all the time sometimes it gets so bad I have a constant headache.other times I get a white moment that is quiet no noise at all.
Maddie are you refering to my Cabbages ? lol Stephen has vanished its that Marilyns fault she should have pointed that pistol at the pheasants.
I have been sitting sewing this afternoon. I have just finished so made a cup of tea.. I am going to watch East Enders at 8 tonight I not a soap person but like that . I know one thing Ronnie gets pregant so Jack has been at it again I have lost count of the babies he has fathered. and Max's ex wife gets pregant and loses the baby. well I hope I am right someone told me this afternoon off now got my warfarin tablets I have to take those at night.

Good grief Pauline I am A MAZED you don't know what Labryrinthitus is, i'm going round in circles trying to find out myself what it's all about. I remember Rita telling us that that was what she was suffering from as well.
Pat dont encourage our Marilyn to have another G+T, she doesn't need much encouragement as it is. LOL But it is good news when we hear that our friends have got on o.k at their doctors. Well done Maz....
Maddie, make sure you slap the suntan cream on tomorrow, when you go out and about. Your poor body has been shut away in the shade for so long now, it will have a shock when it feels the sun on it. ;-)
I reckon Shelly has eaten so much cake, and thats why we haven't seen much of her, she's probably flat out on the sofa, bloated from cake. :-) AND we didn't get a piece of it either, tut tut.
I hope you feel better tomorrow Linda.

I haven't heard that one Dermot, don't think I did it right anyway........ I didn't get 20 years to just eat, sleep and enjoy myself............ think I might have done that the first 10 years.
Anyway, is it safe to come on this thread? I don't want to catch that labyrinthitis - or whatever it is. I thought it was some kind of maze, so I had to google it.
Edit: I ended that a bit abruptly because the phone rang.
Hope you're soon feeling a little better Linda, just as well you didn't go up those ladders again.
Marilyn, glad you passed your maintenance test, I didn't pass mine last week. Those pheasants just don't like you do they?

Apologies if you have seen this before - but, it is Friday whatever that means.
On the first day, God created the dog and said: 'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.'
The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?'
So God agreed.
On the second day, God created the monkey and said: 'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.'
The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?'
And God agreed.
On the third day, God created the cow and said: 'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.'
The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?'
And God agreed again.
On the fourth day, God created humans and said: 'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.'
But the human said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?'
'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.'
So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.
Life has now been explained to you. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm doing it as a public service.

Oh I've had fun & games today.....
I planted my geraniums next thing I know the bluudy pheasants were digging then up !!....So there was I chasing them away , one got into my barn and landed on the window seat, Oh I wish I had my camera at hand , Pete was terrified of picking it up then I went for a towel to put on its head by that time Pete had plucked it !!!!!!!, Feathers all around the place. I said how come the feathers all came out , he said I held it and all it wanted to do was escape from my clutch ..LOL
So although its had a shave it was still wanting to destroy my plants , next thing I'm in the field , shooing them away. :-S Bet they are back tomorrow the little blighter's there only good to eat ..LOL
Drs OK just a diabetic check up .....sticking pins in me feet to see if I could feel them...everything else blood pressure., weight , cholesterol and general maintenance .....needless to say I passed :-D

Hi Marilyn and Rita Good luck at the Drs Marilyn. I have reading in the garden not doing much. Watered the tomatoes in the greenhouse, they were bone dry.
Rita I would ask again at the dr if you are still suffering, the tablets I have areProchlorperazine 2 or 3 times a day.
Glad you got your smellies I got a lavender solid gel type in Sainsburys this morning as my sense and spray one was so expensive and they didn't have the perfume I like anyway.
What a beautiful day it is today. Nice to just relax and not be rushing around though I have plenty to do
Enjoy the rest of the afternoon everyone
Linda :-) <3
