Been trying to do some work on my tree but getting nowhere so think I'll call it a night and go curl up with a book.

Hello Rita
Yes I enjoy this pattern a little more chalenging than some I have done recently.

Broadmoor is the prison for the criminally insane !!!! We had Reggie Kray(I think or it could have been Ronnie?) the Yorkshire Ripper is there now and many others who will never be released. It is in Crowthorne only about a mile away !!!

Stephen I will check some of my adult patterns when I go upstairs, I only have baby patterns downstairs that I am working from right now LOL

I am happy to see that Mike is getting a little better Rita, it is good if it is slow but sure. I am keeping him in my thoughts.

Linda :o) Xxx

Linda I remember that pattern it use to be very popular at one time. I liked it as when I knitted . the article seem to grow more I think it was because I was concentraing on the pattern

Linda is Broadmore hospital the one for mental ill patient and in Alysbury?

I belong to two Family History Societies "The Willesden One" and "The Devon "one. I use to belong to the Somerset one and one in the Higlands of Scotland I know it covered Perth. Kilin and Ross and Cromarty. but came out of that and the Somerset ones. as I didnt get much information out of those I had gone as far as I could.

I have just been speaking to my son Mike he is very tired and was in a lot of pain they had been giving him Hydrocotisone injectiins he is back on tablets now, the consultant had just been to see him and said he could not come home till Monday /Tuesday depending how he got on.
He said Mum thank those who lite a candle for me and thought of him so I am doing that now. He said he is sure he would never had got through this without that.
His son who is in the R E ( army) is coming on leave at the weekend he said he wants to go and see his father his brother who is in the police is going with him.both are tall about 6 feet 4 inch. and one of the daughters is coming up from Dorset to visit her Dad. so he will have plenty of visitors over the weekend.

Hi Rita
I too received my Family History magazine today. Mine is for Berkshire though. It has an article about Broadmoor Hospital and another about "Lovers meeting"
I hope to read it tonight.
I finished another toddlers jumper today. I have started a babies matinee jacket in finer wool, it is feather & fan pattern which Mo and Rita might remeber from their babies days. It is a pattern I have had for over 30 years but was always a favourite of mine.
Fish and chips for dinner tonight, from the freezer and into the oven slightly healthier(I hope).

Enjoy your evening everyone

Linda :-) <3

Hi everyone

Marilyn I knew you could not resist a bargain when you saw one. has your purse got a hole in the bottom I like to borrow it Lol.
pleased to hear Pete is fine. he must be a strong person to get over that so quickly..I hope the weather stays fine for you.
we did miss you. your DFHS Magazine will be at home waiting for you. it has some bits about Farway in Devon in and Northleigh places my ancestors were born and lived so I was pleased about that.

There is a lovely piece about Ugborough school records dated 1868-1874 really funny some of it is.
for those on here who dont belong to Devon Family History society these are from it.
it took place on 3rd December 1869

Alice Batho having been told three diffeent times not to bring fancy work to school, this afternoon brought the same again. which was making a necklace with coloured worsted fixed on a cork with pins.
On being told to put it away and then take the school work said. "My mother told me to bring it and if you would'nt allow me to do it . I was not to do any work for you.
she was made to put the work away and went and made an apron before going home.

another one was several children were sent home to wash their faces and hands and comb their hair on account of coming to school so untidy.

I sat reading these there are three pages. I thought they were really great to be able to read records of a school after all these years..

Hello my lovelies !!

Just popping in to ask .....have you all missed me ? first things first ..LOL

Hotel is great, I have been too busy out & about buying this and that and looking at some fine manor gardens here in North Devon.

Went into M&S factory outlet and practically stayed 2hrs just trying on this & that.
needless to say money went flying out of my purse ! Oops I can't resist a bargain, Why am I like that ? Pete said I got a problem. LOL

Just like to say Pete is back to normal.......cause I looked after him ..LOL
:S.

Rita ...How is Mike today , poor soul he's been through it of late hasn't he .

I see Maddie has not been around lately ,I hope she & K are OK .

I did buy a little coffee table in an antique shop, knocked the owner down £11 from the original price, I was in a cheeky mood & thought I'd try my bargaining skills !!
Well it worked, I was well chuffed, then I saw a little Chair that my sister could do with in her hallway so she could sit and answer her telephone and got it for £20 as the owner said well as you bought the coffee table you can have the chair at that price.

:D :D :D

Dermot, you make me giggle with your comments. I bet in real life you are not as chauvanistic as you appear on here.LOL
But I have to admit, it sounds like you have been taking lessons from my OH

Rita as Agatha said,I thought your surgery could make transport arrangements for you. I know ours here in Kent do.
But I suppose it's an area thing again.

Oh! oh! watch out folks, Linda is getting her paint brushes out again, to paint the spare bedroom.
See Linda we said you would soon find things to do in your retirement.

For goodness sake what has happened to our weather. My god you should have seen the storm we had yesterday.
The rain came down in bucket loads, it was thundering and lightening, oh so awful.
We were lucky as we had we had just got back from shopping when it came down.
At the moment, it's raining yet again, and is so overcast I feel like putting he lights on.

Jean is off travelling this weekend, so I hope the weather brightens up for her. Enjoy yourself my love.

I bet Shelly is getting herself in a pickle over little legs's christening this weekend.
Shelly, relax mate, if they don't like what you have got for food, tough, they can like it or lump it.

Hi Pauline. I am looking at a few ways I might get there ?but I have to wait till next tuesday due the the bank holiday to find out whether I can get help or I should say a lift to the hospital.
This is the first time this has happened to me
It has given me a headache trying to find a way. other wise I will have to phone the hospital and tell them. unless they can get me help I cannot attend that appointment.
I go way on 12th till the following saturday to Norfolk and I have the dentist the Monday I get back from Norfolk. If you saw my diary you would have a fit at the amount of appointments I have listed. dentist. Doctors, Hospital, and foot clinic and hairdresser.

Dermot Report 27 May 2011 11:58

I had a lovely surprise when I got back from the pub last night. You see, it’s my birthday soon & my partner bought me a lovely present of a lawn mower - she managed to get it at a bargain price too. Well, I’m chuffed.

With my guidance, she is getting the hang of it. She was keen to tackle our un-kept garden immediately but I explained that cutting grass while its raining is not a good idea. Electricity & water are not very good bedfellows. Anyway, it was nearly dinner time & I didn’t want her to let the food overcook.

She was a bit disappointed that she will have to push the machine along - she had some strange idea that she would be able just to sit up on it somehow, like driving a tractor. Clearly, she has been watching too much of those flash gardening experts on TV. I explained how, if she wore an extra jumper or two, there would be no marks left on her tummy. Alternatively, just push using her hands.

She was very impressed when I showed her how the electric lead will rewind itself at the press of a button. Magic she thought, as she had a go - she forgot to unplug at the socket before pressing the button! She will have to replace the plug now because its damaged. It might be better if she calls in an electrician to fix the socket back on the wall. It looks dangerous hanging there with live wires protruding.

She’s happier these last few days because most of the celebrity visitors are departed for a while. The likes of Queen Elizabeth in Ireland & President Obama in the UK played havoc with her planned ‘soaps’ viewing - you see, we have only one TV. Well, I am retired & the amount she earns in the chicken plucking establishment in Norfolk isn’t great.

However, she is making loads of new foreign friends there & her Polish language learning is progressing. I’m only monolingual but I think it’s Polish - this was not on her agenda before starting work there. I'm fairly sure she was practicing it this very afternoon, her only day off work, when she realised she had forgotten to turn-on the oven.

Looks as if dinner will be late again this evening. The turkey from Norfolk is still cold & I will not be able to pop down to the local as early as I planned. I hope the darts team won’t be too upset by the delay.

Now I can say good morning to everyone, well maybe for you. I am having trouble getting a car from the people who do hospital runs for the elderly.
I have a cancer hospital appointment and still cannot get anyone to take me. so if I hire a cab firm it will cost me £32 there and £32 back so I am trying to find a way of getting to Guildford Royal Surrey Hospital.. If I cannot find away bu next tuesday I will have to cancel.

The only other way is three buses or two buses and a train but when I get to the other end that is a 1 hourly bus so if I miss it I have to wait and hour. so I will be about two hours travelling and the same coming back.

Mike may be home from the hospital on Monday, they are treating an infectioin one of his stitches he has been going to the doctors every day for a dressing but the hospital had told him they will treat it while he is in there., and try and clear it up.

The weather is not too good.

I was up a bit earlier but have already been for a walk. Start of a new regime. Hubby is on early shift so I have to start somewhere.
Bit dull and overcast, hope it either does some good or lets the sun come out to play.

Might claer some of the spare bedroom now and think about decorating it. It needs new carpet too so a bigish job.

Have a good day everyone
