I was a small child Stephen. I was only 3lb 3 oz when I was born and I was put in an incubator and I've been small ever since but at least I'm not that short :-)

Pat....... :P :P :P :P :P and that's just because you don't put on weight ROFL
Pauline......no damage......I always do a 'belt and braces' job when I build things. I think of the worst case scenario and double the odds in my favour. :-) :-) :-) :-)
As we drove to our Daughters yesterday a tree had come down over the main road and hit a car.....luckily the occupants were not badly hurt. I always think......what are the odds of that happening.......your car being in the right place at the right time to be hit by a falling tree. :S :S :S :S :S :S
Had my tea, now nice and relaxed.

Pat, you aren't trying hard enough............ eat more chocolate. :-)
Hi everybody, I've been a bit busy today.
This morning I was silly enough to think if I put enough pegs in the clothes I'd be able to keep them on the line. Had to go round the garden collecting them all back in and then wash them all again.
Stephen, have you got any damage to your own home?
Shelly, let's see a photo of your new gear and we'll tell you if you should wear it or take it back to the shop. :D :D

The Friendly Thread has been awful quiet today.......where ya all been ?

Good morning all friendly threaders, am I too late for porridge Stephen. How awful for your daughter, that must have given her a bit of a fright, I hope she soon gets it all cleared up and rebuilt, be careful when you make it secure later, we dont want it falling on you. Have a lovely lunch with your sister Rita, it sounds nice, and pat don't eat too much, just go back for seconds and thirds. its not too windy here in cambridgeshire, I am watching the news channel waiting to see Obama arrive at buckngham palace, but Ryan Giggs seems to be more famous today.

Linda,
Unofficial reading on Cairngorm Summit in 2009 was 194mph
And in 1984 an Official reading was 173mph
I was in fact on Cairngorm in the 1970s when 155mph was recorded. We had to crawl to get off the top. I suppose we were totally daft to have beem there to start with. :-) :-) :-) :-)

Morning Linda,
We can't get cars in the garage.......it's full of canoes, windsurfers, bikes, tents, and tools. Thankfully, as far as I could see last night, internal damage is fairly low. I'll find out later when I have cleared a lot of the tree and made the place safe to enter. I'll use steel props to secure the remaining roof. The roof trusses are made from steel and although they collapsed they did prevent the tree limb going to ground level. The front gable end has collapsed and the side walls collapsed outwards. All in all it's a total write off It's an Ill wind......as they say.

Stephen Just found this on a news item
Scotland's Cairngorm summit, Cairnwell summit and Aonach Mor were hit by gusts of 114mph
We were up there on Wednesday and it was gusty enough then, I really did have to hang on to my hair !!!
Linda :-) <3

Morning all Porridge this morning please Stephen. So sorry to read of all the problems the gales have caused in Scotland. Hope your daughters belongings weren't too damaged. How was her car? Still breezy here. Not sure what we are up to today as Hubby is off for the next 3 days, then working over the Bank Holiday til next Thursday. Have to start my lists of what I am going to do. Did loads of knitting last night ,made a pair of booties to go with the baby blanket and started a tiny white cardigan, all for my daughters friend for June I think.
Hope to get back later
Linda :-) <3

morning everyone I was watching Scotlands troubles on TV this morning. sorry to hear about that. I bet alot of would be visitors will be put off.If they were due to fly it will be even worse. my nephew is due to fly in on Friday to stay a few days then fly off on business for the USA to France due to stop back in England for a couple of days before flying back to Washington. he planned it like this because it was easier to fly from there to England rather than striaght to France so I understand.? now he is wondering whether he will get a flight at all. ?
hope everyone is well this morning ? I am off to buy a couple of fresh cream cakes as a treat for my sister . when she gets here. I am doing a salad for lunchtime with all the trimmings her favourite.
be good.

(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?(_)?
Tea or Coffee
Porridge or Cereals, Fresh Grapefruit, Poached Eggs, Toast, Bacon Roll.
Nice and easy breakfast.
Morning All !
Strong Blow.......Soon Go. Thankfully they have that right.
Wind is still fairly strong but has gone down a lot.
The wave height in the Hebrides was reaching 35 ft. Wouldn't want to canoe in that :-) :-) :-) :-)
Need to get the Chain Saw out and become a Tree Surgeon for a wee while at my daughters place. At least the Insurance will pay for replacing the Garage. It's where to put all the stuff that's stored inside it that's the problem. Only had a quick look last night as there was the danger that more of the tree would come down. :S :S :S :S
Reminded me of the big blow on 15th January 1968 when the whole of Central Scotland was blown to bits. It took us months to recover from that. The damage was incredible and 20 people died in Glasgow. 2000 were made homeless. The Armed Forces were drafted in to help out. Yet it hardly rated a mention on the BBC. I suppose if it does not affect London then it hasn't happened :-) :-) :-)
Have a good day ya all ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Morning all, a lot calmer down here this morning, gentle breeze and cloudy skies but dry. Stephen, your daughter must have been horrified to see her garage demolished. thankfully she was safe. My thoughts go out to Madge and her family, sounds as if the end is near, bless her. Jean, Scarlett doesn't sound well at all, poor little mite. I hope she gets better soon. ((((hugs)))) for her. Linda hope little one is also well soon. Shelly whats wrong with your outfit? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ to everyone else, Off to work shortly,
