Evening all,
Stephen my OH's cousin died on the Hood. He was very young and I can't recall his name at the moment but will ask OH when he gets in shortly.
Jean, Max is an absolute stunner. I'm not surprised heads turn when you are out with him.
MO, congratulations on becoming a great granny, what a pretty name. <3 <3

Had a lovely thai meal tonight and fresh fruit salad to follow. Have been lazy today, planted out some plum tomatoes and the last of the garlic and then had a snooze in the chair. Few light showers about now so that will save me having to get the hose out, lol.

Cath xx

Rita, something really awful must have happened to those men if you can't put it on the thread.......... my imagination is running away with me.

Stephen, are you sure you want to wear that kilt for the pic-nic? You might get a draught when you sit on the blanket.

Stephen I have no idea I have photos but not sure what ship he was on at the time. his hat bands dont tell you they had to blank them out on photos. hence my getting the bands he came off it just before it sank.
He was a stoker Charles Butler.if that helps. he knew the Hood like the back of his hands. my young son was brought a kit of HMS Hood and Uncle Charlie came to visit and he was so angry he remarked on the chimneys said they had missed one off.
all the family are dead now. there is only my sister and I she will not recall any of it she does remember him being on the Hood.the family use to speak of it.
sadly he died in a mental hospital in the mid 1960's he kept getting flash backs of the ships he was on that sunk.one he swam to the shore and found his mates hands tied behind there back I wont tell you anymore. it is too upsetting, he kept getting these flash back.
But an Artist in Cornwall in Polperro did a painting of him which I handed to my eldest son . I will ask Mike if he can tell me anything about it . ? Mike is wating for his second cancer operation on the 25thof the month. I gave all the family medals to his son. so I will ask him to check those as well. I dont promnise anything as I cannot recall what medals they were some belong to his brother and a few were my Grandfathers.
I will email Mike and see what he says.

Hi, Mo thank you for the picture of Gracie-Mai, she is absolutely gorgeous, and what a lovely name. Sorry that your Grandaughter didn't contact her Mum first, dont think some of the young realise how hurtful they can be sometimes.
Thank you Shelly, he is a Vanner horse, not quite as tall as a Shire, bred for show, mainly for Romany people for pulling their vardos,
Marilyn, he is very much like his mum, she is also black and white, but her tail and main are longer than his and she has more hair on her legs, they both lok lovely pulling my vardo and you are right, lots of people look at them.
Mo, when are you going to see Gracie-Mai? bet you are longing to hold her.
Going to give Scarlett her bath now,
Hope you all have a peaceful night.
Jean xx :-) :-) :-)

Dame Shelly,

The Personal Records relating to your Uncle Harry are only available to 'Family'.

I'd love to be able to help but can't.

The 'National Archives' are available on line for a lot of information.

Do you know the names of any of the Ships he served on ?

My niece is home from Paris and she's made her mind up that she wants to live there. She's been toying with the idea for about 5 years now, but after working there for 'A WHOLE WEEK' she's sure she wants to move there. She's going to go to one of their universities after she gets her A levels.

Mind you, the fact that she met and worked with 'the most handsome man on the planet' might have had something to do with her decision. I don't think she told her boyfriend that bit!!
