Desiderata
Written by Max Ehrmann in 1927

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, And remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly & clearly; and listen to others, even the dull & ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud & aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain & bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing future of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.

Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity & disenchantment it is perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue & loneliness. Beyond wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees & the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labours & aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery & broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

This was a song in the charts back in 1972. I like the words. I'm sure that I had more sense when I was younger!

Hi all, it's been quite nice here today, forecast for rain later though.

I'm watching the Cheltenham Festival, I think half the population of Ireland is there.

Mo, no wonder you were struggling with your ancestors - they were gadabouts.

According to Wikipedia - St. Patrick was captured from Britain by Irish raiders and was kept as a slave for 6 years before he escaped....

Marilyn
I use to stand at the railings at Buckingham Palace as a Little girl and watch the Queen present a bunch of shamrock to the Irish Guards when they were on parade.

One day one of the irish Guards handed me a small piece through the railings. I pressed it and had it for years.

When I move to Norfolk I made friends with some irish people who came from Waterford. when she went to Ireland or her daughter came over to England she use to bring me a bunch of shamrock. till she died.

Hi All,

I'm off to the ST Patrick's Parade ......

I'll let you all know how it goes, cant wait to see them all dressed up in their green hats.

Its very warm to hang around in the crowds, so I might just see the parade under a brolly !

Stevey.....I think St Patrick came from Devon as all my family seemed to know him too well ...LOL
.They tied the shamrock around my neck on a piece of string when I was little just so I would never forget my roots!!

I'm having breackies now..

MORNING EVERYONE AND HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY TO ALL THE IRISH

Stephen rows have been going on for years that St Patrick was really an Englishman . The Wesh said he came from Wales .the Scotish say he came from Scotland and the English from England. He was born in England and was Kidnapped and taken to Ireland as a slave.

Nice to know everyone wants to call him one of theirs Lol

It is a misty day so far. the waterboard men have not come back yet.? I am wondering how I get across the boards to go and get my blood test done this morning ?.at the surgery.
perhaps I can grow some wings quickly ?

Morning All

HAPPY ST.PATRICKS DAY !

And for those that don't know it.........................

St Patrick was born in SCOTLAND. In Old Kilpatrick near Dumbarton.

Why the Shamrock ?

St Patrick chose this to remind people of the Holy Trinity.

The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Why the 17th of March ? That was the day St Patrick died.

Now that you have that useless information.

Have a good day ya all !
