Hi Rita,

Forgot to say ,I was waiting for the Pliers to come out at the dentist ...LOL
But I was gone before she could turn her back on me ...

Any way my morning appointment at the Dentist has been changed to the afternoon .

So that would tie in nicely with Pete's appointment at the hospital for his gall bladder chat with his Consultant later in the afternoon.

Oh how we have our penny's worth of NHS ...

Marilyn welcome home nice to have you back. Carole said the Dentist her and her sister goes to is great she lived just outside Paphos. Ceila still lives there she did say they are behind times must be Ceila has to go into Paphos to get on the internet.
Did Pete get his appointment for the Gall bladder operation come through ?
It must seem starnge coming back home and having to do your own cooking lol

I have spent the afternoon reading through 38 pages of AGM we have our yearly meeting on 2nd Feb.and I have used a yellow marker to mark the things I need to bring up at the meeting
. On top of that I am reading through 32 pages of the History of Willesden so I am little crossed eyed now.
Maddie it was you who told everyone you were 90 in the first place. and there was I thinking she is marvelous for her age Lol

Good Afternoon everyone. Home from work already. No more late nights for me. Thank Goodness.

I stirred up a bit ot nostalgia with the Canvey Island didnt I? I have a piccy of me and my Dad sitting ont he Sea Wall. He is in his cricket whites and plimsolls. I am very blonde and in ankle socks with Clarks sandals. How some photos give an exact date, eh?

Southend high road, is just like any other now. The same shops, the same paving. The Kursal is long gone. Something like Peter Pans Playground there now. Same fish and chip shops, and whelk stalls.

I am very miffed that you all keep bringing up the fact I am in my 90's. A lady like to be discreet about her age, and you lot are telling All and Sundry.

Tell All and Sundry to b@gger off

Welcome Home Marilyn. I can just imagine your Dentist in foreign climes operating the drill like a treadle. Are you sure it wasnt attached to a generator for the light too. lol

Hope everyone is well and warm.

Hope to be back later.

H..E..L..L..O !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes I'm HOME so you can all talk to me proper now....like no interruptions from routers in Cyprus .

Cor Blimey Rita ....your friend is joking about the Dentist in Cyprus, I nearly walked out ,it was prehistoric and with all the cotton swabs on the floor decided to put up with the pain by self medicating the only good thing was you can buy antibiotics over the counter in Cyprus. I did have an Xray in the dungeons in the basement also prehistoric and the bill was £92......
Rita the dentist I used was in Pahfos called the Royal Artemis Clinic . (A Private one ) recommended by the hotel. so I said thank you very much after a quick look and went back to the hotel and complained to the travel reps... the dentist did not even have a light above my head to look at my teeth just a bulb !!!!!!
Your friend should know that one as its where she lives......so tomorrow thank goodness I'm seeing my dentist a lovely South African one , probably cost me another holiday ...LOL

Mo ....What a little Darling tot.....like I say I want one so if any of you can find one for me , I would be delighted just to hold it for an hour then pass it back ..LOL

Washing all on, its sunny here but I think I'll dry it in the dryer as I have so much to do !!
Can someone cook me a dinner tonight as I'm not used to cooking of late ....Thanks !!

Just going to make a cuppa, then I'll be back .

Mo
My holiday is after Pat's hers is in June mine in July. If my scan results are OK that is.? we are going to the same place.
I wonder what Pauline is up too? she has been quiet on here so far today.
Canvey was a popular place for Holidays people didnt go too far a field especially abroad. you speaking of those long swimming costumes and the horse drawn dressing rooms. My husband and I went to an old seaside exhibition years ago and they had one of those bathing huts it was drawn by a little horse and unhooked the women went in dressed in her long dress etc and came out in one of those bathing costumes. I was laughting so much. I cannot recall where we went now but it was somewhere in Norfolk. when I see the same thing on TV I always think of that. It must have taken them hours to get dry after the dip in the sea. and the little hat they wore to keep their curls dry.

It looks like a few of us have memories of Canvey Island. My aunt and uncle, moved there after their retirement, and we often used to visit them.
I have to admit, I don't have many memories of that time though, apart from the sea front (well if you can call it a sea front). LOL

Ohhh I feel let down now Pat, I thought we were going to be celebrating having a real celebrity in our midst. boo hoo.
I wonder if you and Rita will be on holiday in the I.O.W at the same time.
I hope you get on o.k at the Chiropracters tomorrow.

Maddie, hasn't Southend changed over the years. All the funfair that used to be in the Kurzal (sp) has now moved to the sea front. And the old building is used for other events now.
We used to love going to sarfend for the day, when we were younger, and our kids really enjoyed it to.

Oh Linda what a time for the boiler of your neighbours to have broken down. Especially with a birthday party in the offing.
It's typical to get caught in your night clothes, just when you think you will be having a nice restful day.
Have a nice meal with your friends.

Lovely warmth Cath, it will feel like luxury for you, after all this time without it.
It's been of since before Christmas hasn't it.
Sit with your feet up,and enjoy it.

Shhh Rita, we are not supposed to divulge Maddies age. Just coz she's well over 90.
And if it was Maddie that Stephen saw on the beach, then he's telling us fibs about his age. lol
Surely, back then they used the batheing huts down on the beach, and the swimming costumes were like dresses and bloomers, and little mob caps.
Oh my word, visions of Maddie dressed like that, is making me chuckle.
But then in the 1970's she WAS wearing her bikini, and mini skirts, just like Marilyn.

Jean honey, are you behaving yourself, and resting.?
How are the foals, have you seen them since you have been home.

No Pauline today yet. Cooeee Pauline wakey wakey.

I wonder if Shelly is out shopping with little legs.

Marilyn should be back to her own home today.

Hi Yvonne,Stephen, Dermot, Lady,Sue, Liz and any of our friends I have forgotten.

Morning it isnt really , it is a grey day looks like one of those film they make where they get the reaper ready to pounce.

Maddie I use to go on holiday to Canvey isle with my grandmother , when she went on holiday. she always took me , and our Landlord who was friend of the family , had some little holiday homes there ,so we stayed in one of those. . I have a photo somewhere of when I was a little girl sitting on a step with a couple of little boys who were staying in one of the holiday places, .It is ages since I heard anyone mention Canvey. mind you it was many years ago about 70 odd.

Morning Jean I hope your feeling better. I slept well last night for a change.

I am trying today to find out about some prefabs in Roundwood Park Willesden my uncle lived in one and there is no one left I can ask about the one they lived in. our WFHS is doing a booklet on them but they need more info.

I will have to think about how to go about trying to find more info.

well time for another cup of tea. I have not made my bed yet.

Oh Stephen, how you do flatter a gel. lol

You did indeed see a wee lassie sitting on a beach, but that was Canvey Island in Essex. Or as I now realise, Canvey on Mud. It is a few miles from Southend, but it had reinforcements during WW2, and it was still there when I was a kid. There were parts of Canvey that had barbed wire along the coast line. We were poor but we were happy.

Dont want to shout, but the cough may be going. Please God.

Night night all.

Unfortunately Leeds lost.
My sister just happened to be pictured at a publicity event. She didn't arrange it or anything like that! Her in laws are rich enough to need Financial Advisers and it was these Financial Advisers who organised this event.
Me - I'm just The poor relation!
The first time I went to I.o.W was in 1983. It never seems to rain there.
I'm going as part of a coach tour so there won't be that much travelling.

I remember seeing you on the IOW 30 years ago.

You were the cute wee lass in a pinnafore dress making sandcastles on the beach.
