Morning Cath, hope you enjoy your trip, do some relaxing.
think everyone must be having a rest after all the excitement of Christmas.

Isn't it funny how animals can sense when you are going away and not taking them.

Good morning Jean and all,
no breakfast for me today, I'm too excited to eat, lol.
Shelly, my OH drives me mad when he's under my feet at home so I can sympathise with you. He's gone to work this morning so I can do what I like for a few hours. Don't have to check in for ferry till 4.30pm so have some time to kill, will probably pop to shops and stock up on essentials for my daughters and then read for a bit. The dog is glued to my side, she always seems to know when we are planning to go off without her.
Hope everyone is well,

Cath xx

One bright day in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back, they faced each other,
drew their swords and shot each other.

A deaf policeman heard the noise
and ran to save the two dead boys.
And if you don't believe it's true,
go ask the blind man, he saw it too.

Yes Stephen, those were the days.

My only regret is that I didnt realise how quick, funny and pretty I was.

I could have used them to my advantage.

Maddie,

It's strange when I look back at an era not too long ago and one that my children and grandchildren will never experience.

They look in wonder at me when I come away with the statement....'That's ancient' when they are listening to some song or other. Or indeed if I start singing the lyrics..... that really floors them
They forget that 'we too were young'.and listened and danced to 'pop' music.

happy DAZE more like ROFL

I saw practically all the groups in the Sixties. We used to go and get tickets after school.

We came out after all the concerts.

We couldnt see - our mascara had run.

We couldnt hear - cos of all the screaming.

We couldnt speak - it was us screaming.

Aah, happy days.
lol

Maddie,
Had the joy of seeing the original Beatles LIVE.

Mnanged to get myself and the mrs into the Cavern club in Liverpool as well.

We had a fantastic Jazz and Blues Club in a town where I lived at one time.

Never managed to get to New Orleans though. I would have loved it there.

Stephen I stand corrected. I do not really remember the Dean Martin version, let alone anyone else. I bow to your superior knowledge.

My formative years were the Beatles, The Stones, The Hollies and all those long haired layabouts.

Until i started going to some sweaty dive in South London, where Black American music was played, and there my love affair with Soul, Blues and Motown was born.

I mean, I KNOW of the crooners, but it didnt do it for me. I remember as a small kid hearing them on Housewifes Choice, and Two Way Family Favourites. I can sing along to most of them. But I was seduced by popular beat combos from accross the pond.

Stands back, waiting to be lambasted.
lol

Mo I am the odd one out on this Upstairs and Downstairs the original series was taken in 1903 to 1909 and the Main family the Bellamys and the downstiars servants being under Mr Hudson the butler.

But this new three part series is taken in 1930 more Polical times with Mosley and the Abdication all central to the plot.
Many of the upper class people were suporters of Germany and supported the Facisit party.. as I said on another thread one of the Milford sister married Oswald Moslay another was a friend of \Hitlers and the third Milford girl became The Ducess of Devonshire. on the series we are seeing now is they bring a young man on for training and he leaves in that series through fighting the next series is the Black Shirts and the jewish girl commits sucide. two characters in for one series each and then no more then you get the driver sitting down to breakfast in a the Nazi uniform and being told by the butler to change and he replies he has a right to wear what he is.
I dont think that would have happened it seems to me it had been put together in a rush as they only have three series in this one.
so i dont think much of it. I prefer the old series and also Downtown Abbey there was more storyline in those.
I shall watch tonights to sdee what happens.

Rita, I think we need to go to Stephens Tir-Nan-Og with him, the journey takes no time at all, we don't need coaches, or our broomsticks to get there, we just have to close our eyes, and we are there.
What did you think of "Upstairs Downstairs" last night. I thought it was a good episode, and can't wait to see tonights conclusion. I hope they make a full series of it.
I see Downton Hall is back this weekend.

I thought it was Dean Martin who sang "Memeories are made of This"? one of his CD albums was called this as well. he was one of my husbands favourites, ( I have his CD;s ) he also liked h Gene Cruper( the boy drummer.) and Hogey Carmichael..

Catherine I hope you have a good time and the weather is nice for you.we will miss you as well.

Pat nice you are back and enjoyed the break. I think coaches. always seem to take a long time? . I use to travel on The National Express ones
from Great Yarmout to Victoria station the coach travelled to Norwich and we use to get a lot of black people get on (at Christmas time) with large parcels some even had TV sets and the driver use to go mad at trying to fit them in the luggage compactments ? it delayed his timing to London we stopped at Thetford as well . so it was quiet a trek. it took us 7 hour once coming back from London to Norwich the driver refused to go on to Gt Yarmouth. he said it was over his driving time. there were 8 of us wanting to go onto Gt Yarmouth.it was pitch black outside. I was worried my friends husband use to pick me up from Gt Yarmouth . and drive me onto Caister. but another coach a private one saw what had happened and took us to Great yarmouth.I offered him money but he refused.

Jean have you got a horse with another foal yet ?
