Maddie, will you stop that swearing, the word WORK is a dirty word dontcha know. Try not to overdo it tomorrow, you have been a poorly bunny, and should not really be going back just yet. MWAH
Stephen, they did break the mould after you, as I was born a little earlier in the year than you, only by a month or two though. Both of us are big kids at heart.
Now where has everyone else got to, no Linda, Pauline,Rita,Jean, Shelly, Marilyn, Yvonne, Sue,Dermot,Sue, Lady, and all our other friends are not around tonight. Lady

Maddie,
Yep ! Dean Martin did sing that...it was a hit for him.
It was also recorded by a host of others such as Paul Anka, Petula Clark, Frank Sinatra. Johnny Cash, and of course in 1963 by Jim Reeves.

Hello All.
Welcome back Pat. Pleased you had a good time.
I think Dean Martin sang Memories Are Made Of This, Stephen. Jim Reeves was more a Country and Western Singer. sang of Dogs, and unrequited love.
I didnt go to the sales at all. I couldn't get that far. I just walked to the town, had a quick mooch around, and came home. Back to work tomorrow, oh joy.
Have a good time Cath, get a load of ozone down your lungs. lol
See you later

Good evening everyone. Good to have you back Pat. And to hear you had a nice time. It was not so perilous under foot when you came back was it.
Cath have a safe journey tomorrow, and enjoy yourself over the New Year period. I am sure we will all have a wee drop and wish you well on New Years eve
Stephen," Memories" whats them when there at home, I can't remember my name most days, let alone remember what happened yesterday. lol When I wake up each day,I have a job remembering what day it is, and what I have eaten the day before. I am 21 in mind but my real age in my body, in fact we are both the same age lol 1946 babies.

Marilyn,
Lovely photographs.
And those Hot Pants bring to mind a great Jim Reeves song, 'Memories are made of this'
Yep ! Our families forget we too were young.
The mind is still agile....pity the message isn't getting through to the body..
Patricia,
Hope all went well on your wee break.
Probably take you until Tuesday to catch up un the Thread.

Hello everyone, I'm back home. The coach journey last Thursday seems a long time ago now. The worst part of it was walking to the bus stop with my bag.I didn't take my suitcase because I thought the wheels would get stuck in the snow! The snow was so bright. You almost needed sun glasses. I had a nice time and I don't have to go back to work until next Tuesday! I hope everyone had a nice time x

Dermot, I was not even a twinkle in my Daddy's eyes back in 1936.
Lovely photo's Marilyn. You had a most unusual head dress, was it a hat or turban, with the veil coming down from it. So good to hear you got home safetly, even though it's a long journey. How was Pete during the journey, not in to much pain I hope. The Hot Pants I wore had the bib and brace above the waist, and they were a lovely purple.
Rita all the chemist's this way were shut this morning as well. Even the pharmacy where I used to work was closed, and that is most unusual for them. When I worked there, we had to remain open on bank holidays.
Maddie, it's good that you felt well enough, to go out to the sales today. Did you buy anything special.
The purple sparkly top I bought yesterday, has gone back to M+S today, it was to big. Yet again today, no one was able to try garments on, as they are in the middle of re-designing the changing rooms. It's a bad time of year to be undertaking refurbishments. Unfortunately they hadn't got my top in a smaller size, so I have had to have a re-think as to want I want to buy. Oh fiddle sticks, I was so chuffed I had found something I really liked, only to have my hopes dashed. Still never mind, theres bound to be something else I like somewhere else.

That's the year there were three kings in the UK.

Rita, you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. A drop too much cough mixture. lol
Sense and Sensibility with Emma Thompson, and Kate Twinset. Hugh Grant is a bit wet, but not by diving in the lake.
Pride and Prejudice, with Alison Steadman, as the truly awful Mrs Bennett. Call it is Senior Moment.
I still feel as if my head is stuffed with cotton wool.
lol

Is your 'traditional family' still intact after the Christmas festivities?
Or, is everyone gone back to having meals ad hoc on trays in front of the TV?
Interesting views on the Traditional Family on R4 now.

Afternoon all.
Hope everyone is well and warm.
Rita you felt well enough to go out, so did I.
I have just come back from town. First time out in 6 days. Not like me at all, I get a bit of cabin fever, staying in. Not too cold, but still coughing like a good-un.
I am now watching Sense and Sensibility, AGAIN. Colin Firth, and diving in the lake. Uuummmmm. Rather nice.
Havent looked on my emails yet, but looking forward to see Marilyns' photies.
Maddie x
edit. Lovely Marilyn, what a very pretty wedding dress, was that a separate jacket over the top. You all look great. Good looking sons too.

I lost my last message.
I have a complete set of Catherine Cooksons DVDs the first was released 15 in that set, they did another which had 12 in. The Tilly Trotter they were going to do a DVD follow up on that but they didnt the two books that followed that were Tilly Trotter Weds and Tilly Trotter WidowI have those. I also have the collection of Jane Austin DV's and books.
Stephen I thought you were going to say you got locked out.? My father in Law did the dressing gown and shouting in the early hours of the morning. but he had shut the door and could not get back in. my Mother in law didnt hear him so he stayed on the step for another hour before his son came with a key to let him in.
Marilyn I had to smile at you in your Hot Pants way after my time, it was my daughter that wore those. she had lots of pairs of them. I had a swiming costume which in those days was a bit daring so i was told by my friends. I have a couple of photos of me in it. but now they would laugh and say how old fashion. how times change. The wedding photos were lovely Marilyn your Pete has not really changed much got older of course but you can see it is him.
Rita
I have been out to the shops. the Chemist was shut BOOTS CHEMIST I was disgusted people had come to collect perscriptions. I only took one over so I posted mine through the door. I went and did some shopping in Waitrose and then came home. no ice the only ice is in our car-park at the back of the flat.

Dash It !
Missed that Dressing Gown......and the Bath time.
'Fluffy Paws' is slipping up.
Marilyn,
Years ago I went out into the street we were living in at he time......it was 2am.....I had been awakened by a Taxi peep, peeping on his horn.
grabbed a dressing gown...flew out the door.....yanked open his door and gave him a pile of verbal......he sat with his mouth open just looking at me.
slammed his car door....nearly taking it off the hinges.....and went back to my bedroom.
my dear lady was affronted......you are a disgrace.....I'm ashamed of you...etc etc.
Then she burst out laughing.....'You must have looked really threatening dressed like that'
'You're wearing MY dressing gown'
It was a nice pink frilly one.
Oh Boy ! Bet that taxi driver had a few laughs at my expense eh.
