I haven't got that colour Maddie but I do like it.

Mo, look at the colour here...

Ooh Cath. Portsmouth. Bring a sailor home for me. lol

Greige is a mix of Grey and Beige. It it what was on the catwalk in the 'Fall'. Chanel make the original, but most of the other makeup houses have followed suit. Apparently it suits most skin tones, but we have not been able to get it for love nor money. I tried all the big cosmetic counters in the West End, and even the Boots stores, but nothing. Even Mavala who do good copies, had sold out.

Good job I didnt buy it really, I didnt get around to painting me paws in any case. lol

Hello sleepy head, are you feeling a little better now honey.
I am not sure what Stephen decided about the family member, but I believe he said he has now got a photo of her.
O.k so what the flippin eck colour is "greige". Is it a cross between green and beige lol

Oooh I feel better for that sleep.

I have missed most of Chrissy because I have been sleeping. lol

Crashed out again on the settee, and was only woken when I was being covered up with a quilt. Aaaah. Aint love grand.

I have only had two choccies, they made me cough. lol

Still we will look forward to having another couple of days off, and maybe eat a bit more then.

Please Marily has had Pete OK over the holiday, and you must have had your hands full with Brent Pauline, but nevertheless it is the time for families, big and small.

We have sheet ice along our road, still not gritting. If everyone just came out and did their own bit, it would be great. But most of them are arty farty go getters who wouldnt know one end of a shovel from a mustard spoon, so there is no chance.

Did Stephen come to a decision over contacting that new member of his family. I must have missed a few pages. I am sure he came to the right decision for himself. No matter how we all poked our noses in for him. lol

Pauline, have you managed to get that 'greige' colour for nails. I saw it in the big stores by Chanel, but it has sold out everywhere. Strange colour, but if it is the one you have to have, then it is the one you have to have.

You have to suffer for your art, darhlings.

It's still a disgusting situation though isn't it Pauline. How on earth can they make them work that amount of hours, if they are contracted for less.
But then I suppose as often happens the contracts were not ready when they agreed to take the job.
They have got them by the short and curlies, once they start work haven't they, it's either do the job or leave. A nasty way to treat good staff, and so unwarranted.

Cath where are you going for your break away, is it somewhere hot and humid, or chilly willy.
Where ever it is I am sure you will enjoy it.

No I wouldn't be without any of them. I love them to bits.

Jean, lovely names for new foals.

Mo, it's a private care company but they have contracts with to Social Services. They treat their staff terrible, the wages are poor and the hours very long. A couple of weeks ago one of the girls was in floods of tears because she'd had to work 70 hours a week.

An 18 year old girl started working for them last Monday, she was only supposed to be working 37 hours, but within a couple of hours on the job she'd had phone calls telling her she had to work 50 hours. By Tuesday she was told she had to work 56 hours ..........by Wednesday she'd packed in. She lasted 2½ days!!!

The girl we had was great, but they made her work twice the amount of hours she wanted to work, she never got the chance to spend any time with her kids, so she left.

Cath, I think you deserve a few days peace and quiet from all those kids ............but you wouldn't be without them would you?

Hi all,
Have had a lovely day doing nothing. Perfect.
Marilyn, I have 4 grown up children, youngest 2 still live at home, eldest daughter has 3 children aged 2,3 and 9 and my son has a daughter of 6 who he has shared custody of. On a weeekday I look after 2 of them between 12 and 6 pm and pick up other 2 from school at 3.30. My daughter and her 3 always have their evening meal with us as her partner works late. On the nights my son has is daughter to stay they usually eat with us as well before going home so it is always busy here. I must need my bumps felt !!! Lol.
Sometimes I'm fit for nothing by the time they all leave but I feel lucky to have a large family and glad they still feel they want to spend time with us.

I am however looking forward to getting away for New Year with OH for 5 days peace and quiet.

Good grief Pauline that is disgusting. Is it the reccession thats doing it, or is it the centre themselves not bothering to employ people.
Are the care workers employed by social services, or is it private care.
I know that down this way, the nursing homes in particular, are always advertising for carers. But the wages are really poor for the work and hours they have to do.
During the time my mum was in a care home, she had so many different carers, but I thought at the time that it was because she was so cranky at times, but I had a word with one of the care staff , and she told me it was to do with the management, not treating their staff very well, and nothing to do with my mum.

I think I've only had makeup on once in the last 2 weeks ..........but my toenails are always done. The kids are always buying me nail varnish, I've got that much - I could open a stall on the market. I try to use it up by keeping my toenails painted at all times.

Mo, the Day Centre is open every day apart from Bank Holidays, but I keep Brent off during our holidays so he can spent time with us. I like him to have the same holidays as us, so he'll start back on the 4th.

We're having a lot of problems at the moment because his care worker has left the company we're contracted to. They didn't employ anyone to take her place and left us with no help on Thursday. If it wasn't for the bus driver coming in to help us, I don't know what we'd have done.

I've reported them to Social Services because if they do it to me, they'll do it to others as well. They've had 6 girls leave in the last month and haven't bothered to replace them. Some of those girls looked after elderly people who will have been left to God and good neighbours.

Oh darn it, I go of line for an hour and miss everybody.

Maz how can you put your make-up on in bed, good grief woman the bedding must get a good dosing as well. lol
I had a quick look in Laura Ashley during the week, but didn't get anything.

Ahh Pauline, we are allowed a few chocholates at this time of year.....or have I got that wrong, if so forgive me father as I have sinned. And after dinner, I will be sinning again, as I want to eat my After Dinner mints, can't have waste now can we.
When does Brent resume his day centre activities again. Do they keep the same days and hours as schools do. Please forgive my ignorance.

Maddie, I wish I could have flopped on our settee yesterday afternoon, but had I have done, I would have got squashed by bodies.
I was in pain from my I.B.S all afternoon, I knew I should not have eaten those sprouts, but by golly, I enjoyed them at the time.

Hi everyone, hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day, and hope our poorly friendly members are feeling a little bit better by now.

Hi Marilyn, we're fine thanks - but like you say, I don't have much time to post with son at home all day.

Linda, he doesn't use boards or sign, he just makes noises when he wants something, and the longer he has to wait, the louder he gets.

Sounds like a few of you were shattered after the big day ...........especially Mo, Shelly and Cath.

Jean those names for your foals are lovely, much nicer than what I was thinking (Frankincense and Myrrh) my niece would have been over the moon to have been there with you when they were born.

Rita, I've read your thread about the telly and I agree with you.

I think I've eaten my body weight in chocolate during the last couple of days ...........on top of all the food.

The birds and feral cats have had a good feast with all the leftover food we've put out for them. Just as well really, because the ground is too frozen for them to find any food themselves.

Edit: Marilyn, I was going to say it was 4 years for the thread really, we just accidentally lost the first 2 years of posts.

Hello Mommy,

I am creaming my clock, but not much else. I have the pallid glow of a corpse. lol

No yesterday was fine, I ate a bit of dinner, then collapsed on the settee.

How lovely for Jean to have foals born at this time of year, and the names are wonderful.

Back later.

It's good to hear from you Maddie. Thank goodness you are feeling a little better today.
I hope it did not spoil your day to much yesterday.

Four days with out make up, I bet your skin is crying out, " Ooooh this is lovely, no slap on today."

Stephen - you speak for yourself relating to 'good looking blokes'. My face is fit for radio only or so I'm told.

For years, I thought I had a small scar on one cheek but some kindly person pointed out that there was a crack in my mirror.

Still, I could always stand in for Homer Simpson if he was ever incapacitated. Nobody would notice the difference.

Ah! Chocolate doughnuts!

Tell me - who smiles most? Alex Ferguson or Posh?

Hello Everyone,

Hope you are all well and warm.

Well, feeling a bit brighter this morning. Still coughing, but not as snotty.
I dunno, I look like the Wreck of the Hesperus.

I took my make up off 4 days ago, and havent put it back on, my eyelashes have reverted from sooty black to very pale blonde. I really do look like a rabbit caught in the headlights. lol

My hair needs a blooming good wash too. I am painting a lovely picture here, but I feel like rubbish.

The sun is glinting in through the window, and it really quite pleasant.

I do hope you all had a lovely time yesterday with all your respective families.

Hopefully, back later.

Maddie
