are they any good and how do you decide between weight watchers or slimming world?

Anyone got any experience of them?

my mother and i go to a weekly Rosemary Connelly class once a week. its about £5.00 to be wiehged, have a talk about a specific subject and 45mins exercise.

she's lost a stone and a half since being there and we find it's a really good place to go. there's a real range of people that go, and it's really good fun, we have a giggle while we're doing it.

also it's easy to stick to as the diet is more altering what you eat and the amount. no points etc to count. just rule of less than 5% fat and a certain number of calories per day (also allows for a glass of wine and a 'treat' each day- which is always nice!)

no experience of other classes but we quite like it, i think the main thing about slimming classes is the community feel about them. everyone in same boat and most want to have fun too- that's the main thing. am sure most clubs/classes have this feel and i think that all helps when you're trying to lose weight together.

Hi Diana,

How are you - long time no speak!

I went to Slimming World a few years ago. I found it to be really good. I didn't need to lose a lot, but the recipes were easy to follow, and I lost the weight in no time.
Every so often (when I am feeling uncomfortable about my weight) I follow the guidlines and have found I am able to maintain my weight without any trouble.

Good luck.

Daughter has lost about 3 stones at Slimming World.
I don't think she would be bothered to count out points, but finds their method, combining sensible eating with moderate exercise works well for her.
They have a great community spirit within the group, even producing a 'pin-up' calendar a few years ago in aid of Cancer charities.

Another tip is to try their magazine. I have found it helps to see a menu plan for the week and the recipes are so simple and tasty. You get to eat meals that you would normally think were a definite No No. Well worth a try.

Hello sweets :O)))

I've tried all 3 in my time - Rosemary C - WW and Slimming Wld

have to say Slimming World was the easiest and most effective for me ................. (not that you'd know it to look at me just now tho lol)

I've been struggling with the extra i gained last year, but looks like there may be a medical factor involved to some degree, which hasn't/isn't helping *rolls eyes*

One of my best friends is a Slimming World consultant. She went to classes to lose weight and did so well she became a consultant on top of her day job. Her ladies seem to do well and she is very good at not trying to hook me in as I have a couple of stone to lose--------!!! Exercise is the only thing that seems to work for me and I am so lazy these days :(((

Just to add to this thread. One of my daughters goes to `Slimming World` and finds it a really good way to help her lose weight. When I go and visit I really enjoy the meals which she prepares from their books etc and never think of it as eating special diet food.

Hi Diana, I used Weight Watchers a few years ago. They use a points system, whereby certain foods are worth certain points and you're allowed x number of points per day. It worked for me and I lost the stone I needed to lose and have kept it off.

Good luck with it:)
