ITV have made massive losses and have put Freinds Reunited up for sale.

I would imagine GR is also included, although I can't find any details anywhere.

I wonder who the new owners will be.

I would think they would sell Friends and keep GR!! Friends is free these days so no money to be made from it while GR is still pulling in cash.

But you never know.

They might put the price up on GR, make it more like Ancestery, just the one payment

I don't think they could up the price from £9.95 to nearer £90. GR don't offer anywhere near as much as Ancestry.

I really aren't bothered about Friends Reunited being sold to the highest bidder.
I am more interested in that they are getting rid of our Local tv station(Yorkshire Tv) which has been with us over 25 yrs.

Over 500 staff getting made redundant in this tv station and it's time the fat cats in ITV took a pay cut to keep the costs down and keep people in jobs.

Just my personal opinion and if ITV don't like it hard lines.

Hi Rita,

It was said on the news this morning that they are not sure what would happen to the sister sites. If this site continued under another company, I would look closely to see who it is as there is a lot of personal infomation and tree information that would be handed to them on a plate.

Maybe the BBC could buy it and have lots of candidates for Who do you think you are? :-)

My local news has just said ITV are axeing jobs as they are struggling to sell advertising space - so that may have something to do with it - no mention of FR or GR tho ....
