I caught that on the news and at the beginning of the report my stomach flipped as my son went on Easyjet to Prague this morning, but then I heard the rest of the report, that it was over Norfolk and not today and breathed again!
Scary tho, I hear lots of planes as we live close to the airport at Norwich, and often stop and listen in case they sound different or something wrong.

Apparently it was on a test flight post-servicing.

It had been reported that the trim tabs (which fine-balance the controls) needed adjusting, but the service engineers did the adjustment in the wrong direction.

Consequently, when the power-assistance to the controls was turned off as part of the test the plane was unstable and went into a dive.

(If the trim tabs are set correctly then the plane should neither clime nor dive and should fly itself "hand-off").
