I can't put here what I would do to the low lifes if I ever met them who did this to this elderly dog, reported in our media yesterday

The owner of an elderly dog brutally savaged by two pitbulls has had an emotional reunion with her pet.

Since the story aired on Tuesday night donations have poured in, enabling the SPCA to offer a $20,000 reward to help catch the culprits.

Janet Cuthers, Lincoln's owner, said she was overwhelmed by what her dog was put through as she was reunited with him for the first time since he was attacked.

"I just want to say that the people who did this, I don't know how you could do this. He doesn't have long to go and after what you did to him it's just too much," says Cuthers.

The 14-year-old Ridgeback Cross was stolen on Monday and used as 'bait' for an illegal dogfight at Titahi Bay.

Just watched the video of the news report,
showing poor Lincoln,he looks so unhappy,
he has such a lovely face.
The people who allowed their dogs to do this, must be so evil,
to allow their dogs to inflict such injuries on another living animal.

Hope Lincoln recovers soon.and gets all the best attention.

A man who used an old dog as fighting bait for his pit-bull cross has been jailed for ten months.

The Judge labelled the crime as "revolting" and "despicable".

The man was ordered to pay reparations of $4362.47 at a rate of $10 per week starting from one month after his release.

Janet Cuthers says her dog Lincoln still loves people but will never fully recover from the mauling he suffered after being stolen as dogfight bait.

Hi Michelle, thanks for updating this, and glad the evil so and so who stole LIncoln is locked up now altho ten months is nothing really - it has diminished the quality of life Lincoln had. Good to see he is still around tho and hope he spends more happy times with his owner.

Hope you are ok and George too. In case I don't see you around anymore for a while, have a great Christmas and a Happy Healthy New Year too.

If you go to the web site there is a photo of Lincoln and the jerk who got a paltry 10 months -probably out before we know it.

http://stuff.co.nz should get it and then key in the word Lincoln in search.

He is such a lovely old dog, and I'm sorry but I think prison is too good for the likes of the idiot who meted out such treatment.

UNSPEAKABLE CRUELTY.
My husband has always thought that that is what happened to our lovely black collie cross.
he disappeared in *seconds* one night as they were going for a last walk before bed.
My husband and a neighbour searched the whole estate until 1.00 or 2.00 in the morning and saw and heard nothing of him, and we have never found him.
There was however a man in our street who *indulged* in this cruel pastime....

Oh my god, did you read what one of the other dog owners tried to do to Lincoln. So pleased he was found in time.

TEN MONTHS??????????
And that is a punishment?
The cruelty of human beings never ceases to amaze me.
Lincoln must be a beautiful natured dog if he can still be friendly to humans, bless him.

There has been an undercurrent of this in the welsh valleys for years. One wife who found out that her husband was involved divorced him because of it. They should be used as bait themselves and I would cheer. How can they degrade any dog to do this to another.
