Glad you like it here Angela! Like most areas, there's nice bits and not so nice bits, but I like it and there are some great places to visit.

Dear Angela

Some of my ancestors came from Wiltshire!

I traced my great-grandmother x7 back to a village called
Wootton Rivers around 1793.

Best wishes

Wiltshire is quite convenient for me :-)

Well, yesterday it was lovely that, on the spur of the moment, having caught a bus to Bournemouth, we then hopped on an open-top bus to Swanage :-)

I was born in Liverpool, moved to Formby when I got married, now live in Conwy. Love the sea, seem to be drawn to it, can not imagine living away from it.

Completely agree that we are very lucky with this land of ours. I love the west coast of Scotland, used to think it was because my Dad said his family originated there. Then I started family history and found out that his family on the paternal side originated in Southampton and Portsmouth. all of the males apart from my granddad and his brothers were master mariners.

I reckon the sea must be in my blood. At the top of my "to do" list is a visit to Southampton and the "Old Cemetery" to see the family ploy amongst other places, when money allows it.

Incidentally, no trace of Scottish roots on his side, Mainly "down South", Dad would hate that (hated Southerners. lol) and Ireland on his maternal side ( would have hated that even more).

OK he was a bigot but he was lovely.

That's the one downside - we're a lot further from the coast. It was nice to pop to the beach for an hour or two, we were near the North Cornish coast.

Wiltshire is, as someone says, a place you pass through on the way to Cornwall - that's about all we knew of it. It's worth stopping, believe me!

Whirley, I would like to visit the North east of England - my granddad was born in Sunderland & I have roots in Northumberland. One day maybe.....

Wiltshire is beautiful. I love the west country too and I love the south coast where I live. I think we are so lucky living in this lovely country...........and so much more to explore.
I would love to go to the North east of England and Scotland............

We pass through part of Wiltshire on our way to or from Cornwall and it all looks so pretty down there.....

Hemel, well it used to be quite good, but it has gone downhill (to me) in the past 20 years.......lots of shops closing and more graffiti and crime.......other parts of Herts are very pretty though.....

I have lived in Staffordshire, Devon, Cornwall, Hampshire and Somerset....think any county in our wonderful country has its bits of being absolutely unbeatable.

I have recently moved house and, although North Devon is beautiful, Wiltshire is lovely & so much more convenient!

What is lovely about where you live?
